It smells bad but it looks nice. I bought this when it came out. I like collecting these. They have unique packaging and are limited editions.

Anyone know if there is a regular edition, without the book, like The Evil Dead was released some years ago?

Thanks!!

I have the limited edition version of army of darkness. (I bought it brand new on ebay but it wasn't brand new and even had a scratch on one of the DVDs. That's another story though). I can't help you with the Boomstick Edition although I am quite interested in getting it. You should be able to check out other websites and see reviews for it.

DVDemon and Chrtrptnt,

Thanks guys for the info! I totally forgot about all the other incarnations of Evil Dead 2 already out on DVD. I was just curious about this new DiviMax transfer, and if it was available without all the rubber 8)

I remember when The Evil Dead was rereleased with the big book edition, it came as a regular edition also. And they both had the DTS-ES and 5.1 EX. Maybe if this one is limited, they'll put it in a normal keep case for us guys who have nowhere to display the 'cool as hell' looking book.

-Dave

p.s. Anyone own the Army of Darkness: Boomstick Edition? If so, how is the video/audio aspect of that edition? Any info would be great!!

Dave,

There is an Evil Dead II release without the book that you can get for around 12 bucks or so. You should be able to find it at any retail store or amazon.com. You can do a search on this website and you'll be able to see this version:

It has pretty much the same extras too. I think the book of the dead has a Divimax transfer but otherwise they are pretty much the same.

This DVD is cool. It smells really bad and the new Tom Sullivan feature is kind of monotone, but it greatly complements the Evil Dead 1 DVD (which is still a little bit better). Are they going to follow suit and release a Book version of AOD? I already have the 2-disc limited ed. with the theatrical and the DC, but I would be willing to buy it again for sweet new features and a restoration of the awful-looking DC. They've already re-released this a billion times, and the Boomstick Ed. was identical to the Limited Ed, but I was just wondering...

I AM SO THE MAN!!

just kidding....haven't been here in a while.....trying to focus on my job in a school district that is going straight to hell. And enjoying my new "movie theatre" :)

Oh, and if anyone has an iPod with a black and white/monochromatic (whatever) screen, AND you have Apple care that hasn't run out yet, break your iPod and send it in to them for repair. If they can't repair it, they have to send out a new one....since the b&w ones are not being made anymore, guess what you get.....

They sent me a 60gb color screen in place of my 40 (they only make 20s and 60s in color besides the nano). Now that might be because they screwed up and sent it to the wrong house, accepted the signature (DHL was responsible for that one), and washed their hands. I assumed because of the constant nagging they experienced from me, waiting over a month for their "investigation" (gee, DHL delivered it to the wrong guy....that was easy) to take place, that they upgraded my model. Then the guy told me that they don't make the others anymore. So.....if anyone wantes to try it out....lemme know how it goes!! :p

I'm only teasing, Michael. I thought the topic was worthy, even if the spammer's intent was not.

At least Italy12 was able to get some information out of this thread, So guess it did serve its purpose. I guess I deserve a fair share of the blame in encouraging somenoise. I was the first one to reply. The topic peeked my interest so I felt compelled to respond.

Please note that "somenoise" is a spammer. I delete one or two of his posts each and every week because he does nothing but shill products for Fox and Anchor Bay. Occasionally, I leave one of his posts alone just to show readers what he's up to. I have contacted Fox about him on several occasions, but they continue to disclaim any knowledge of his actions. Fair enough. In the meantime, please don't encourage him.

Do we really need another release of Evil Dead 2? Does anyone know for sure what is on this version that makes it so much more special than the others? :(

The video does look phenomenally better, at least from my limited memory. I didn't do a side-by-side comparison.

I don't know if anyone else noticed, but I think that some bloopers in this film have been corrected. Look at the eyeball flying in Bobby Joe's mouth: the stick at the bottom and the monofilament seen when she recoils is gone. Also, the noticeable hole in the ass of Ted Raimi's witch suit looks different. AM I right or just crazy?
