What did you guys think of Annie Lennox performance of Into the West ?
It sounded to me like she just couldnt hit the right notes. Like her voice wasnt right or something. Also what an amazing night for ROTK, for them to win every award they were nominated for. I was incredibly happy to see them get Best Picture and Director. I was also happy to see them get recognized for Costume Design and Makeup.

I thought it was a horrible performance. I didn't think that song deserved to win. I agree with Roeper on his points he made last nite about this category in general. Most of the songs nominated in this category aren't even played during the movie, and if they are it's when you're trying not to step on spilt candy/soda on your way out of the theatre during the credits.
Anyone else think Watanabe and Cruise were robbed in supporting/ lead actor?

John,
Funny thing is, I am the one who is too old for Naomi Watts. However, fantasy is the better part of reality.
:D
Eddie,
It was a clean sweep because Steven said so. :p I know it must be hard for you right now. Maybe Tom Cruise will pull out a masterpiece next year. Keep your fingers crossed my friend.
:D
Depression,
Yes, Annie Lennox was off-key and somewhat flat on Oscar night. As far as the actor nominations go. . .no. I feel that Sean Pean's Oscar was well deserved and triumphantly earned. Same goes for Tim Robbins. I thought he did a spectacular performance in "Mystic River" and I was very pleased to see him win for supporting actor. The only other guy I was rooting on was Johnny Dep, but he'll have to wait until another time.

>>>These movies couldn't have been put in better hands save Tolkien himself<<<
Well, maybe we would have had the conspiracy chapter early on which would have been much better, but I can't immagine even Tolkien making theses movies as good as they are.
Annie Lennox was a bit weak.
>>>It will be remade holographically in about thirty or forty years. The audience will be in the midst of the battles. I can't wait<<<
What is everyone going to do when the HD-DVDs comes out?
There are LOTR computer games out now I believe.
Tom who?
P.S.
Peter Jackson gently needled the academy by thanking them for looking past the trolls etc. I believe this was a compliment to Spielberg for his great SF&F movies. What class!

Although LOTR is great, and ROTK probably deserved getting Best Picture for the series as a whole, I was kind of hoping MYSTIC RIVER would win Bes Picture. I measure I great movie by what kind of emotions it evokes out of you. MYSTIC RIVER was one of the most suspenseful, emotional, character and drama-driven movies I have ever seen. Sean Penn and Tim Robbins' Oscar wins were definetly deserved. Also, SEABISCUIT was nominated for Best Picture and I didn't think that movie was all that great. I think BIG FISH or KILL BILL VOL. 1 shoulkd have been nominated instead. Anyway, that's my 2 cents!
I highly reccomend MYSTIC RIVER and all the other movies I mentioned!
