This is a great horror movie that most people haven't heard of. It's on Netflix, and is a great one for Halloween coming up. It was so intense, my wife had to leave the room.
Here's the imdb description. Enjoy.

I still have mine shrinkwrapped. I have heard so many mixed reviews, I don't know what to do. I love horror, but not just anything.

I don't know why the ending is throwing so many people off balance. I liked it.

I loved "Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels". I had no issues understanding the lingo, eventhough it was heavy. Nevertheless, it was a funny and entertaining film.
Perhaps you just need a good slap upside the head . . . Josh! :D

Roger,
As a general rule, I'd say you're correct. I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to art in any form. But, (and this is a conversation I've had with Eddie as well) occasionally the English dubs have good actors. My problem with "subtitled" films is, I wind up reading the film, instead of watching it, which sort of negates the whole point of a movie. I wind up missing nuance in body language. Volumes can be spoken in a look, or posture, which can easily be missed if you're reading what's being said. Not to mention that some languages speak so rapidly, that you may not be able to finish reading what's being said before the next person's lines are displayed onscreen.
Then again, there are some films where their original language is English (albeit King's English) and it DESPERATELY needed subtitles, such as "Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels". 15 minutes into that film, I walked out of the theater, because I only understood a word here, and a word there.
I've had a few bad experiences with subtitled films. With little exception, those experiences have soured me against them.

A NOTE TO EVERYONE WHO IS PLANNING ON SEEING THE FILM: on the DVD you have the choice of watching the film dubbed in English or in it's original language(french) with English subtitles. WATCH IT IN IT'S ORIGINAL LANGUAGE. Films dubbed in English always have terrible voice actors. ;)

Wow, I JUST heard of this movie.....I took a quick 4-day trip to Florida last weekend, and in some little video store in some outlets in Orlando, I came accross the cover for High Tension. It looked scary, so naturally, I picked it up and read on. It sounded very interesting, so I decided to put it on my blockbuster.com list. Tuesday, I was in Best Buy and I saw it in the horror section, and as I picked it up again, some guy was picking one up also, and said how good it was. So I moved it up in my queue and hopefully will be able to see it within the next week or so. Looking forward to it!!

This was actually a hard film for me to watch because of the hardcore gore. It was probably the hardest to watch since I saw Passion of the Christ. But watching this film has taught me to look at gore as an art form. The concept of the ending wasn't predictible, just, well... kind of old. But they did give some original twists to the old ending. I'm glad the film was made.

Yeah, you do see the ending coming, but it's not enough to take away from the rest of the movie. And it's not a horrible ending. Just predictible.

Josh,
True, you do end up reading them sometimes, but under the circumstances this is a horror film. Dialogue is few and far between.

Furthermore on the ending, its impossible not to think of Fight Club. I think the twist ending brings back some replay value. Each scene can be relooked at. Was she the killer or Marie, was that part made up or was she actually doing it. Because half the time she's the killer imagining Marie running around, and the other half she's Marie imagining the killer running/hiding from somene that doesn't exist.
