It looks like there will be no competition between Disney and Pixar after all. After years of Disney distributing the Pixar product and wishing it was their own, Disney is buying Pixar.

Here's hoping that Disney's failures in 3D animated features don't rub off and ruin Pixar's productions...oh wait.

it remains to be seen how things will go. the pixar team takes about a year and a half to make a movie. the disney team likes to churn out several animated features a year. will pixar and disney's own teams co-exist, or will disney tell pixar to make a lot of movies on the quick?

Good question, but since no one hits a perfect run his/her whole life, I wonder if time has come for Pixar to make a flop (Cars looks kinda dodgy), and now that Disney owns Pixar...some may view that Disney "jinxed" Pixar though that may not have been the case. :o In all honesty, I wouldn't wish a flop on Disney or Pixar...us filmgoers aren't getting many good animated
films at all nowadays.

well, "finding nemo" was a financial success, but i thought that it was almost a bad movie.
what we really need is disney giving miyazaki and ghibli's movies a real push rather than simply releasing them on dvd.

This is a win-win for everyone. Disney gets Pixar, which is worth billions in licensing alone. And Pixar can just concentrate on making movies.

This is actually pretty good news - Disney and Pixar are a match made in heaven and never hit a dud note!
