Ok...so are they releasing new editions of both 1 & 2 seperatly or are they together in a packages? Ive also seen that there will be a seperate edition of just 2 as a disc....so does that mean to get the new edition of 1 I have to buy both films? Any news? I dont see why theyd be releasing a new edition of 2 because it has plenty of bonus material as it is...unless they are adding that cut out hour of deleted scenes.

the first movie is being released with anamorphic video and extras.

the second movie is being released with a bonus disc. no word on what the bonus disc has, though the first disc is probably the same as the previously-released edition.

you can get the new versions separately or in a box set.

i just found out what the bonus disc for "m:i 2" has. this will blow your brains.

the bonus disc for "m:i 2" has some of the extras that are found on the new "m:i" disc. about half of the bonuses on the new "m:i" disc celebrate what a great man tom cruise is. that way, paramount and tom cruise get to tell people who don't buy the new "m:i" disc but do buy the "m:i 2" disc how great tom cruise is.

(the first disc of the new "m:i 2" set is the same as the previously-released dvd.)

you'll see what i mean when you read my review of the new "m:i" disc, which will be posted tonight.

Should I buy this one, or hold out for M:I3 to come out (I've read somewhere that they're doing a box-set of the three)? Does any one have any info on whether they'll be doing a new edition of Mission: Impossible for that release? If not I'll just go buy this new one, even though the special features seem superficial (I so badly want to see this movie in widescreen! Damn VHS!). So any info on a newer and better release lemme know.

Onijay,

There probably will be a three-movie box set in the fall. However, bear in mind three things:

1) the new "M:I SE" has a voucher for a free ticket to "M:I 3" (I dunno if this applies to Canada, though).
2) the 2-disc "M:I 2" in the current two-movie box set has the same disc as the previous 1-disc release plus a disc of extras that are found on the new "M:I SE" disc. thus, you're getting an extra disc of worthlessness, so fans are better off keeping their copies of the 1-disc "M:I 2" and getting "M:I SE" as a stand-alone.
3) the three-movie box set will probably have the 2-disc "M:I 2", which is, once again, something that gives you an extra disc of worthlessness.

Eddie
