Alice in Wonderland TV Mini Review Question.

I recently read a review here by James Plath for the new DVD of the 80's TV mini series Alice In Wonderland and I have a very impotant question relative to the fans of the mini about the release. When this first aired it was presented as a mini series and at the end of the first half there was a Jabberwocky cliffhanger. From what I gather a VHS version does not have this cliffhanger, hasAlice start reading the book in the second one, and has added a narrator's voice and text ending to the first half and beginning of the second half, ruining the cliffhanger.. This was presented on TV as one story mini series not two movies. From this description can Mr. Plath or anyone else who has seen this DVD confirm if this is the original TV version or the altered VHS on?
