Stagecoach missing from John Wayne-John Ford Collection

I don't whether this is just in Canada or not, but the Warner set John Wayne-John Ford Film Collection is supposed to have eight films, including Stagecoach - Two Disc Special Edition. But it doesn't. There are only seven movies, Stagecoach is missing and I can't find out why. Is it missing from the set in U.S.? Does anyone know why it's missing? If I could find a Warner e-mail address, I'd ask them.

(I find this very annoying ... I ordered this from Amazon specifically for The Searchers and Stagecoach. After months, the order has finally arrived - but no Stagecoach.)

In the U.S., "Stagecoach" is a part of the eight-film John Wayne/John Ford Film Collection.

I own the set and if you got the same one, and Stagecoach is packed right next to the big Searchers boxed set. If you got the correct boxed set but were shorted one film, you should definitely notice the empty space (with the full set, there is no wiggle room in the larger box.)

Yes, and you should definitely notice the big picture of the "Stagecoach" art work on the back of the box. If "Stagecoach" is there in the picture but the disc is not actually in the box, you got aced. If the picture isn't there, it's a different box set (and you still got aced).

I finally got some answers and it seems, because I'm in Canada (I assume), I got aced. A few weeks ago I was in a DVD store and spoke to a friend who worked there and the first thing he said to me was, "There's a movie missing." I got a reply today from Amazon.ca (the Canadian Amazon) saying they're aware of the problem and offering me a credit if I order Stagecoach separately, or a credit to my account, blah blah. Bottom line is, if you're in Canada, the set does NOT have 8 films, Stagecoach is missing - and the box set cover art reflects this. No Stagecoach. (Despite what you may see on sites online.)

In order to avoid vulgar language I won't say how this makes me feel.

On the upside, I watched The Searchers tonight and it was a pleasure to see a good transfer of it. I don't know how many times I've seen this over the years, but I think this is one of the great westerns, great John Ford movies. Now I have to make my way through the features.

(But I really wanted Stagecoach!!!)

btw ... I should add that, annoying as the missing movie is, that is not what bothers me. I know there are various legal, license issues that sometime affect DVDs. Some films are out in Canada before th U.S., sometimes in the U.S. before Canada. And I'm not sure if it's still true, but it use to be that DVDs were cheaper in Canada (when converted to U.S. dollars.)

But I am upset about the fact of the misinformation and that nowhere (that I can find - and believe me, I've looked) is there anything explaining that in Canada, you're only getting 7 movies. The information I've seen has stated 8 movies that incudes Stagecoach. And this wrong info has been available for months, and continues to be available.

I just haven't figured out if this is an Amazon problem or Warner. Or both.

By all means write a review for the set on amazon.ca and inform other potential buyers that they may have the same problem. Sorry about what happened to you that sucks.

Man, I really for sorry for you, because (along with THE SEARCHERS) many people consider the STAGECOACH film as the best out of that set! It's a major favorite among John Wayne fans.

We all need to remember to carefully *look* and/or study the packaging [and marketing of product] so as to perhaps notice a situation like the above the *NEXT* time it happens, which probably will.

I also posted a brief review on Amazon.ca explaining the omission. However, while the Canadian edition is missing Stagecoach, Amazon very quickly fixed it. As I say in my blog:

"Granted, it took me a while to find a place to actually send them an e-mail, but once I did and pointed out the problem they immediately acknowledged the problem, apologized for it, and offered me some options. I chose to order Stagecoach separately – at no charge. (Actually, it is charged to my credit card but Amazon processed a refund for it that will appear on my credit card billing.)"

They also very quickly corrected the online information, so while I essentially got Stagecoach at no charge (should arrive Monday), others won't because the info has been corrected. I think this was more a Warner problem than Amazon - though I'm not sure. But I'll give Amazon credit for fixing things quickly. And early next week I'll be watching Stagecoach! :D
