Those films have been on the lot for the making in the near future, true. You're right on the money with most of them, but I wouldn't put my cash down on "Lethal Weapon 5". I've seen numorus interviews with Glover & Gibson and they both say there will never be another LW. Much of it is because they really can go no further with the characters. It has nothing to do with any ill feelings towards each other, it's just that the story has done all it can do.

Fear & Loathing I've heard nothing about, the other films I've read many articles of scripts floating around Hollywood. The Godfather one interests me the most because I can't figure out where the hell they would go with that one?

TGP,

You can count me in as one of those who loved "Jackie Brown". I, too, view it as one of the most admired in my top 50 DVDs. As you say, it is very character driven and that is exactly what's delightful about it.

TGP,

You'll find that John and I both agree with you about how it's neat to see Bond being captured and tortured. There are some good things in "Die Another Day". However, the overall effect is much less than I desired. Like you (and like John), my favorite Brosnan Bond is "Goldeneye". Even my sister likes that movie, and she hates cheesy action flicks. :)

I don't know, the new Bond films aren't bad at all, they're just not the same as the old ones. But it is necessary to update Bond for the new inventions and events that have happened. I actually liked "Die Another Day" quite a bit, because Bond actually got captured and tortured. That's never happened to Bond before, so it was a brave move. But Brosnan's "Goldeneye" is still my fave of his. I don't know about Tarantino and Bond. While I absolutely love Tarantino, I just don't think he could do a Bond movie without it being super-gory or a huge departure from the Bond style and flair. And, to skspence and to everyone else, I can't believe why "Jackie Brown" is so talked down upon. While it may not be as good of a movie as "Pulp Fiction", it may be my favorite, or second to Reservoir Dogs. "Jackie Brown" was by far Tarantino's most mature character-driven film while still retaining the inimitable Tarantino style. It's even on my list of top-rated DVD's on my profile. Watch it again, see what you think. Robert Forrester as Max Cherry is priceless in this movie, and his quirky relationship with Pam Grier's Jackie Brown is interesting chemistry. Samuel L. Jackson is ALWAYS good, and so is Robert De Niro. Bridget Fonda was kind of annoying in this movie and Robert De Niro seemed like he was really stupid, but they were meant to, that's their characters. "Jackie Brown" is a GREAT FILM and still Tarantiino's most mature.

I remember reading once that Spielberg had expressed a wish to do a Bond movie (separate from the fact that he and Lucas made the "Indiana Jones" movies as a way of showing that they were Bond fans), but the reason given for not hiring directors who are known as independent-minded auteurs is that the Eon people don't want directors to give the movies personal stamps. Instead, Eon wants every Bond movie to feel like an Eon production, though Lee Tamahori sure did a lot of damage with that awful stutter speed effect that he used in "Die Another Day".

Tarantino and Bond would be awesome. Bond would give up his Berretta for a samurai sword! Blood everywhere. Actually, I don't think Tarantino could do a PG-13 rated film. It's not in his, ahem, blood. But I'd love to see him try. Couldn't be any worse than some of the Bonds lately.

John,

Well, as long as that Notice of Termination is authorized, I guess I can go ahead with John. Or if Tim calls you Don Puccio, how about John Juan?

Wait...I just realized...you said Notice of TERMINATION! So T4 really is happening!?
***************************
John Connor was only the beginning. Now watch as the Terminator faces off against the foe SkyNet never anticipated:

John Puccio!

See as Ahnuld is reduced to a puddle of mush when John gives him an "F" on his term paper entitled "How To Run California Using Only Your Biceps." Thrill to the exciting showdown between the Terminator with his high-caliber pulse rifle and John with his pen (which is truly mightier than the sword)! You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll need a blood transfusion and a fifth of Bacardi.

Don't miss "T4: The Terminator Eliminator!" 8)

Sean (I think it's possible I'm an oxymoron...or is it onomatopoeia?)

BTW: in the world of real scuttlebutt: apparently Tarantino wants to make the next Bond movie. Seriously. He wants to do Casino Royale (playing it straight, not a comedy like the Peter Sellers version) with Brosnan in his final run as Bond. Personally I wasn't impressed when he adapted Jackie Brown for the screen. Anyone think he could do Bond justice?

Well, let's see, I turned in my official "Notice of Termination" to the district office last week; I've never been a member of the Schools of Life or Hard Knocks, being something of a loner and outsider; and I can't remember anyone ever accusing me of being wise--infinitely, transcendently, or otherwise. Now, please, just call me John.

Or, in the case of Tim, maybe Don Puccio.

John ("You can call me Al or you can call me....")

Sequels to follow.
