If you havn't noticed the outer edge of the dvd is blue but in some pics it is grey and when they do the special extended edition they go by the outer egde color or atleast they have in the last two movies does anyone know what color it would be? I think blue would look alot better than grey but maybe that is just me.

The extended edition's will be blue.
What is funny, is that the limited edtion of the soundtracks also carry these three colors just not in the same order. For the soundtracks it was:
Part 1 : Red
Part 2 : Blue
Part 3 : Green
Strange!

My editions of the books follow this pattern, too. Fellowship is Green, Two Towers is Red/Brown and Return of the King is Blue. I would think that the extended DVD's will follow the pattern.

I have a 4 book box set that includes The Hobbit. In mine, The Hobbit= Green, Fellowship= Blue, Two Towers= Red and ROTK= Purple. I guess mine is just different.

yah, mine arent in a boxed set and theres probably a few hundred different editions of them, but i think it will be blue. I cant think of any other good looking color next to the two others on my shelf.
