I just got back from the premier of Kill Bill Vol. 2. I should pre-empt this post by saying that unfortunately I waited until earlier today to see Kill Bill Vol. 1 for the first time. I loved it, and as TGP mentioned in the "Anime" thread, I loved the Anime sequences as well. Now, on to Vol. 2. This film is classic Tarantino style, with lot's of gore, and blood. As well, there is the intelligent Tarantino humor, that at times has you rolling! Mr. Tarantino has done it again. His style is so unique, the action is mind blowing, and the performances by the actors, just as impressive. When you've got big names like David Carradine, Uma Thurman, Daryl Hannah, Samuel L. Jackson, Vivica A. Fox, and Lucy Liu, let alone the direction of Tarantino, it's hard to miss. I think Tarantino fans will be pleasantly surprised.
If you haven't seen Kill Bill Volume 1 yet, I suggest going and renting it (or buy it) and check out Kill Bill Vol. 2 A.S.A.P.! The Blockbuster video stores in my area are offering a deal where if you bring in ANY DVD in good condition, you can buy Kill Bill vol. 1 for half price. That worked out well for me. This movie is a DO NOT miss! However, as in stereotypical Tarantino styling, it's not for the squeamish. While the scenes that did have lot's of blood in them were reminiscent of the hilarity of the "Black Knight" scene in Monty Python's "Holy Grail", it's not for everyone. A lot of the gore was very explicite as well.
If none of the prior bothers you, you won't want to miss this latest Tarantino flick that's on par with (if not better than) ANY of his prior films!!

What's funny is that older people should be "getting" the movie as much, if not more, than younger people because they were around to see all the movies that Tarantino is referencing!

Any of the staff here at DVD town could answer that question better than I. However, in talking with Eddie in the past (at least I think it was Eddie) he had mentioned that dvd's that have such a quick release after the initial theatrical run, wind up having disappointing special features on them. I'd tend to agree. It's been true in my experience.

Similar to Return of the King, do you think it would be safe to assume vol 2 may be out within 4 months (as opposing vol 1's six month wait) on dvd seeing how there is no forthcoming chapter to promote. Meaning, there is no reason to delay the dvd to synchonize the release with the next volume to maximize advertisement and promotion?

DEFINATELY more dialogue, and character building. Vol. two is er... volumes better than Vol. 1! It's such an amazing film! Action galore, killer fight scenes, interspersed with moments of pure hilarity. TGP, you won't be disappointed. I agree, Jackie Brown was good, but, I found that Kill Bill Vol. 2 was far better. Although, it's not really fair to pit the two against eachother... they're both vastly unique and different films.

Watching vol 1 on hi def as I type =D. I saw it in theatres when it was orignallly released. I found it funny because there were a few middle aged ... maybe older near the 60's in the audience. I over heard some of their remarks on how much they disliked the movie. I wonder if they even picked up on a single reference.

I've heard that Vol. 2 is somewhat more dialogue and character driven than Vol. 1, kind of like "Jackie Brown" but more violent also. Is that true? I kind of hope so, because "Jackie Brown" was awesome and I don't want the confrontation between The Bride and Bill to be anti-climactic.

No, unfortunately there are no Anime scenes in Kill Bill Vol. 2. It is however MUCH more humorous, and WELL worth the money!! I'm going to go see it again when it hit's theaters.

I'm with you, DrunkenMonkey. If I know that there will be a better, bigger, and ultimately cheaper box set (like with Kill Bill or the Matrix) than I will wait for it. Anticipation is half the fun of getting a new movie. Tarantino has stated in multiple interviews that he will release bare-bones DVD's of Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2, and that there will be later a re-editing of the volumes together with much more special stuff. He may release the Japanese cut of the film with more violence also. Read this link for more info:
