Well, it's almost upon us: the annual SummerSlam from the studios. So, before it gets underway, what is the best movie you've seen on the big screen since January 1st? I know these will likely change, but where are you right now?

So far, I've only caught a couple of movies in the theater (babysitters pull from the old bling-bling fund) ;), but Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind greatly impressed me. It's wonderful rendering of such a complex and abstract subject as memory is fascinating. Not to mention the wonderful story, performances, and direction.

So, where do you stand?

Sean (actually, I always sit. standing's too strenuous...) :)

Best movies of 2004 so far:
Kill Bill Vol. 2
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Passion of the Christ
Big Fish
Mystic River
(I think the last two were released in 2004, but I'm not sure.)

The best is hard, but one of the worst was EuroTrip. (Although nothing can be worse than House of the Dead)

As my "graveyard" job keeps me from seeing the opening day showings (and thus keeps me from seeing them with my friends) as well as it makes me live like a Vampire, I don't seem to be able to make it to many movies anymore. The ones I have seen that I've loved so far, would have to be Kill Bill Vol. 2, and Big Fish. With my afore mentioned schedule, it's kept me from Dare Devil, as well as the new Hell Boy. I didn't have high hopes for Hell Boy, but have had conflicting reports from friends. As I still haven't seen it, does anyone recommend I wait for Hell Boy to hit the dollar theaters, or should I see it in a theater where my shoes won't stick to the floor?

critic692004,

I'm looking forward to those as well, although I don't really know how to feel about I, Robot. The trailer's nice and all; I think I'm just partial to the original story, so I worry about how well it will transfer to screen.

Interesting that most of us have put Eternal Sunshine on our lists. I hope it's remembered at Oscar time.

Looks like a good blockbuster summer, though. 8)

Sean (if Spider-Man arrived the Day After Tomorrow, do you think Van Helsing would get his I, Robot?)

The summer rush begins tomorrow. Anyone else going to see Van Helsing? And then next week we have Troy. AND then Azkaban and SM2 are right around the corner. And I'll stop using the word and now.
