Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

Thoughts? I think it looks like a good ol fashioned fun movie. At first glance I thought the CG looked lacking, but I think it is a deliberate attempt to fit the atmosphere.

it's either going to be really cool or so bad that gwyneth paltrow and angelina jolie will never act again.

Much like the Rocketeer, this will be a wonderfully stylistic movie, a neat story, but will bomb at the box office because people won't know what to expect from it.

Those are just my thoughts.

Oh, and Disney... where's a decent SE of The Rocketeer!

the connection to "the rocketeer" is an apt one. i was wondering why "sky captain" felt so familiar. good call, buddy!

Sky Captain looks cool, but I'd like to mention that Rocketeer totally kicks ass! I grew up with that movie and I still love it!

Yes yes!!... I agree with all of you! I plan to see this movie ASAP!! (which means Monday) However... as much as I love Gwyneth, will she be able to fill "Jennifer Connelly's" shoes?... assuming she's the "love interest". ;)

Saw it Friday and really liked it. Perfect throwback to the 30's comics such as Flash Gordon.

The technical aspects of the film are amazing. I've been watching specials and interviews on how it was made on shows like The Screensavers and it's a really cool process they went through.

And big props to the actors for working with nothing but a few props.

i think it looks really cool, and i got a free dvd from best buy with some behind the scenes stuff, that makes the film look better. i hope to see it next weekend.

Great movie, but Gweneth was bad. Bad bad. The beginning of the movie didn't capture me, though did set a nice tone, and once they started globe-hopping and ended up in Shangri-La, I was happy. Fun, killer soundtrack.

I loved this movie. I remember when I first saw the trailer I thought it was going to be the worse movie of the year. I agree with Justin, Paltrow's performance was not very good.

I dont know if this is budget or time restraints, but when they showed up at Totenkumpf's lair, I thought it was lame that Ribisi came out of nowhere and had miraculously escaped and it seemed like him and the scientists were wandering around without and resistance.

Also, and I dont know why but watching Angelina eject and then jet pack up to the air base was one of the funniest things ever.
