Ok, if this is a little TOO nerdy for you all, I'll understand if you disavow me.
There's been a lot of speculation on what (if any questions we've all had over the years) will be answered in the final Star Wars installation.
How will Amidala hide her pregnancy from Ana-vader? I mean, does she get her stomach cut off and have it replaced by a robotic one, or what?
What the heck does a Jawa look like under that freaking hood anyway?!
What's the significance of the "evil" cave on Dagobah?
Will we see "connectors" like a brand spanking new X-wing, Y-wing, and or a cameo of the Millenium Falcon? Or a young Han Solo or Chewy?
Of course the obvious... Does Anaken fall into a pool of lava to cause his injuries that require him to wear the Vader suit, or is it strictly from injuries sustained from Obi-wan's light saber?
At what point does Anakin start acting more like Vader and less like Anakin?... before or after he puts the black suit on?
Does R2-D2 have any other special features we don't know about? Like... spring loaded scissors, or maybe a bottle opener? How about a gigantic magnafying glass? A cork screw maybe?
Will C3P0 be spouting off any more bad jokes to make us groan?
What species is Yoda anyway?
Why the heck does every film (except Empire) at some point visit Tatooine?
When and why do R2 & 3P0 have a memory wipe?
Will we learn what all of the other buttons (besides the one that calls his parents to pick him up) do on Vaders suit?
Why are droids descriminated against in bars? Can't a droid get his drink on?
Why didn't Quigon disappear when he was killed?
Any others?
- Josh ;) :D

My question is, what is Lucas fetish with severed limbs, especially hands?
Phantom: ?
Clones: Anakin gets hand cut off
Episode III: ?
New Hope: Guy gets arm cut off in Mos Eisley bar
Empire: Snow monster gets hand cut off, Luke gets hand cut off
Jedi: Darth gets hand cut off again
Can Jedi strangle people at will like Vader?
Did Luke realize after founding out that Leia was his sister that he was in love with her and frenched her in Empire? Did Han realize?
How big of a bad ass would Han be with a lightsaber and Jedi skill? Could he beat Luke?
What did the Ewoks think when C-3PO left them, since they idolized him? What would the Ewoks do if they found out that him levitating was actually Luke's will?
Did Jabba and Leia ever get their freak on?
Why did that one guy with Jabba look like a head a tail on his head? Was his butt on his neck?
Were R2 and C-3P0 "just friends" or was there more going on? Was 3P0's whining due to some... uh, frustration stemming from... oh, never mind.
Actually, in retrospect, it's okay if these questions aren't answered, I don't know if i want to know on some of them...

That's freaky! I never thought about the severed arm/hand thing! What is up with that?
From what I've heard with Lucas' game division, they have to stick to the rules Lucas has set within the Star Wars universe as well... so, the whole strangle thing is a "Sith" tendency. If Jedi were to do that, they would start to turn to the dark side. Same thing goes for using two light sabers. (From what I understand).
I think if I were in Luke's position, and found out I had kissed my sister, I would puke, and then go into therapy for years.
I don't think Han would make a good jedi. He's kind of the stereotypical "Jock" type. He's strong, and courageous, but not that smart. Intelligence seems to be a pre-requisite to be a Jedi. No smarts, no Jedi mind powers... which is more than half of being a Jedi.
I'm not sure what the Ewoks would have done.
Jaba and Leia... the thought is just too much to bear.
Don't know about the "butt head" guy. lol

Depression,
I don't know what to say about the dual light saber thing. I swear I've read it or seen someone talk about it in an interview somewhere within the star wars universe at some point. I wish I could remember where I saw it. Here's a theory on the Episode II fight scene... you could be right that the Jedi were picking up the light sabers off of dead Jedi. Lucas seemed to really push the importance that Aniken NOT lose his light saber, or let anything happen to it. They mention it, or give reference to that 4 or 5 times throughout episode II, so maybe that has something to do with it. I'm not sure.
You're right about the physics of light sabers though. I've worked with swords in personal, martial arts, and military applications. If they truly are just beams of energy, then they wouldn't have any mass or weight for that matter. Which would make them impossible to spin. However, the actors can do it, because the light saber models they're using for dueling actually have iron rods coming out of them in place of where the energy beam would be. This is probably for reference for the CG animators to come back to the film footage later and put in the engergy effects, as well as when the actors clash sabers they don't have to guess where to stop the blade.
Don't get me wrong about the Dooku fight scene. I actually liked the effects across the faces, it's just that there were FAR too many shots of them. It just kept going and going. I think they should have used maybe 2 shots maximum.
I agree with you about the Obi-wan rage on Maul thing. That is my favorite scene in the whole flick. That look on Darth Mauls face when he realizes he's been cut in half was priceless! It's almost like he was thinking "I'm gonna kick your butt now... wait a minute... something's not right here".
I think the main problem with putting more choreography into the Dooku fight scene was because actor Christopher Lee was "too old" (in his own words) to be doing all of those action sequences. In the special features, Lee says that they put his face on another actors body (via CG) for the heavy physical scenes. That being said, it probably limited Lucas to how many action shots he could get away with before the audience realized Lee's face was superimposed.
You know what's funny, is that even though Aniken is supposed to be "the chosen one", and the most powerful Jedi ever... I think (and correct me if I'm wrong) somewhere in episodes IV - VI it's mentioned (by Yoda I think) that Luke is more powerful than Vader... or has the potential to become so. I think Lucas needs a whole staff of continuity monitors to keep him from contradicting laws and rules in his own universe. lol ;)

Those aforementioned pictures look great. Ewan looks uncannily like Guiness' Obi-Wan, and Hayden's Anakin is appropriately looking moody and overcast with darkness, since he will soon turn to Vader. The burnt pics of Anakin are pretty gros, they look like a burnt omlette. Will Episode III still get a PG if Anakin is torched this badly?
I have pretty high hopes for this film. IMO, Episode I was eloquent but it had too much of the politics, and lots of wooden acting. Episode II was a HUGE step up with more/better action, story, etc. The lightsaber battles in the prequels are MINDBLOWING. In Ep. I, the fight with Obi-Wan, Maul and Qui-Gon was great. Ep. II blew that out of the water with Obi-Wan and Anakin against Dooku, and then of course Yoda against Dooku. I loved the scene when the lightsabers flashed across their pissed off faces, it was intense and claustrophobic. I hope that Lucas puts his all into Ep. III, and I hope the DVD's don't disappoint. If I had to individually rate the Star Wars films, it would go as such:
Ep. I Phantom Menace: 7
Ep. II Attack of CLones: 8
Ep. III: ?
Ep. IV New Hope: 9
Ep. V Empire: 10
Ep. VI Jedi: 9

That's the thing isn't it, "Anakin" is supposedly the most powerful Jedi to ever walk. I'm willing to bet that once Ani goes bionic, he isn't at full potential anymore. So Luke may be able to surpass Vader, but could he have surpassed Anakin?
I also hope Mace shows us exactly why his swordsmanship is a thing of legend. Even though he has to die somewhere, I'm betting he won't go quietly. PURPLE POWER!!!

Depression,
I would agree with you on Aniken going to bionic and not being up to par... EXCEPT!!! In Episode III the new villain is "General Grevious" whom is an alien cyborg. He's mostly robotic, except for his vital organs, torso, and head. Being that he's the main villain, I doubt he's a wuss. Therefore Vader cannot be a wuss once relying on his cybernetic body. I don't think Vader had his decline until Return Of The Jedi. So, I think if you were to pit Luke against Aniken each in their prime, it would probably be an even match. Why does this suddenly sound like a "could Mighty Mouse beat up Superman" conversation? lol.
I hope that Sam Jackson has trained similar to how Lawrence Fishburn and Kianu Reeves did for Matrix. Otherwise I don't think his combative skill will live up to Mace Windu's reputation. I wasn't too impressed with Sam's fighting in Episode II. I seemed like they just handed him a sword, gave him 30 minutes of instruction and went strait to shooting. Sam is a great actor, don't get me wrong, I've loved him in just about everything I've seen him in. He just didn't seem to be at the level of expertise in sword play that Hayden and Ewan were. However, PURPLE POWER indeed! ;)
TGP,
Could you imagine if George just said screw it, and put all kinds of limbs being hacked off, and Aniken looking hiddeous, giving Episode III an R rating?

No way. Mighty Mouse is a cartoon. Superman is a real guy. A cartoon can't beat up a real guy. It would be a good fight, though! :)

Have you guys ever wondered how the Jedi can twirl their sabers in circles? I've toyed around with plenty of swords and even own a few and to be able to do it you almost NEED the weight of the blade to allow the circular motion of the wrist. This weight is something sabers don't have. The only thing that weighs anything is the hilt.
About the two sabers thing, if you look in the arena during episode 2 you can actually spot more Jedi sporting two sabers. I'm not sure if it's what they normally do or if it's a matter of picking up another off a dead comrade.
And I totally agree about the Anakin - Dooku fight. Totally disappointing, the lights across the faces should of been replaced with some wicked choreography much like when Obi gave into emotion and went relentless on Maul.
If Ani has become the most powerful jedi by eps 3, I think his progression a pretty cool parallel with Luke's in the original trilogy's. Beginner >> Intermediate >> Expert.

Eddie,
I'm aware that Obi threw Ani-vader his light saber and basically approved the use of two sabers. However, I have read it somewhere within the Star Wars universe that Jedi aren't supposed to use two light sabers. I think that's TOO big of a mistake for Lucas to have overlooked, so in my opinion, there was a reason for it. Weather that be because taking Duku out was paramount, or some other reason, I don't know. I hope we have a lot, if not all of these questions answered though. :D
Tim,
I'm not sure that Quigon not disappearing was a mishap. I think Lucas may have actually had a reason behind this as well. But who knows... maybe he did overlook it.
I can just see Lucas sitting around smoking a bong and playing a sytaar. "Duuude... what if I made Vader Lukes father?... Faaaar out man!" lol :D
Depression,
Wow! I had no idea I'd be looking at pictures that pretty well have to be of Aniken burned up from E. III! I guess Lucas' shooting sites, ILM, and Skywalker Ranch aren't as water tight secure as Lucas makes them out to be. I suppose the "burn" pic's of Aniken would support the theory that he winds up in lava. That's far too many burns to have been done by a light saber alone. That's like 90% of his body or more! SERIOUSLY creepy looking too! He almost looks like "Freddy" from Nightmare On Elm Street! :o That one picture of Hayden in a Jedi cloak, makes him look way evil!

Actually, the Jedi can do the choking thing, too. I have the "Jedi: Outpost" game for my Game Cube, and, as a Jedi, you can choke any of your enemies. Of course, you have to master a few levels before you can do that. I'd have to say that it's probably my favorite Force move in the game next to the lightning Force move. ;)

I must say McGregor as OBi was a great casting job. The comparison pics of him in eps 3 and the ANH counterpart look fantastic.
As for my questions..
How is it that Obi actually defeats Ani? And will this 10-12 min duel be everything we could ask for? Or is that a stupid question, this IS the duel to end all duels and effect the known galaxy for years to come. That is of course until Luke comes along and does his thing.
How has Palpatine been managing this two-face lifestyle without the council noticing?
Will we see Ani and co. murdering by the masses or will much of it be implied?

Tim,
I stand corrected. I'm currently playing a fairly old PC game called "Jedi Knight Dark Forces II". Choking people can be done by Sith as well as Jedi in this as well. I miss spoke. However I do believe the dual light saber thing is supposed to be a Jedi no-no.
Depression,
Where did you see the pic's of McGreggor in E.III? I wouldn't mind taking a gander.
As for Obi defeating Ani-vader?... It was E.II when Obi fights Duku, after Duku defeats Obi, and says "Master Kenobi, I'm disappointed... Yoda speaks so highly of you" I believe that line was Lucas' way of dropping a hint that Obi is a light saber bad ass! Duku (at the time) was just far superior in in both skills of the force, and skills with a light saber. At least that's my take on how Obi will defeat Aniken.
I honestly hope that the Obi Vs. Ani fight IS "the duel to end all duels". I thought the whole fight scene between Duku and Aniken was a little too "artsy" with all of the close up shots of the light from the light sabers reflecting off of their faces. It was a nice effect, but those shots went on far too long in my opinion. I would have liked to have seen more camera angles in that scene as were in the fight between Luke and Vader in both Empire & Jedi.
Palpatine being able to pull the wool over the councels eyes for so many years is answered by Yoda in almost every Star Wars film. "Elusive... hard to see the dark side is".
The "murdering of the masses" as you called it was hinted at by Lucas in an interview I saw directly after Episode I had it's first weeks pull of theater goers. Lucas was asked about E.II & III. He said that he thought a lot of the fans would be disappointed with E.II because it's a "love story" and that there wouldn't be as much action in it. When he commented about E. III, he (Lucas) said that Episode III will be a VERY dark film... much like Empire. Because it's the fall of the Jedi. That's pretty much all I remember from the interview, but I believe we can surmise from those comments that there will probably be a LOT of action, to include the Jedi being killed off. One other thing to keep in mind is that this is the "close" of the Star Wars Saga. No more Star Wars films will be made hereafter. Star Wars is obviously very special to George, and in my opinion with this being the last of the films, and taking into account his comments I mentioned above, I'm sure he's going have episode III go out with a bang. Or... at least we can hope!

The one question that has been eating at me is the, "Why didn't Quigon disapear when he was killed?" The Star Wars world really seems to be a mishap of errors in several places. There really are some good questions Josh is aksing and probably only Lucas can answer them. However, I think Lucas needs to put the bong down and pay attention to detail when telling a story. ;)

When they refer to balance of the force, they mean the destruction of the dark side. But, since there are 2 sides, destruction of one wouldn't bring a balance but it would favor the good side. So I guess I don't exactly know what a balance to the force is. Good question...

The thing that gets me is that the word "balance" as you mentioned means there are two sides. But when you get rid of the dark side, a balance ceases to exist doesn't it?

While I am not a Star Wars fanatic that dresses like the characters or camps out in theaters, I have always loved sci-fi/fantasy and Star Wars is one of the epitomes of that genre. Furthermore, I was not at all disappointed with the prequels and I eagerly await Episode III. In my opinion, the prequels have been getting steadily better, and if the pattern continues then Episode III will be great. If Lucas doesn't do Episodes 7-9 then he knows that Episode III is the last and he will probably put all his effort into making it the best it can be. The photots looked great, and the little I've heard about the plot sounds awesome, too. I've always had a thing for sword fights and lightsaber battles and I've heard that the Anakin/Obi-Wan duel of Episode III is the duel to end them all. I've enjoyed these films since I was a kid. I was never alive to witness the original trilogy (I was born in 1988) but films like Star Wars, Matrix and LOTR I eagerly await and i haven't been disappointed with them yet. Star Wars is still one of the best film series and i can't imagine that Episode III will ruin that. In fact, it may rein"force" that status. The Special Editions, while controversial, never stole anything from the franchise and the upcoming DVD's will give people a chance to remember how great it is. All I can say is, I'll see you in line for Episode III :)
I think "bring balance to the force" means this: There is a dark side and a light (good) side to the force. The dark side is the militants or castaways of the true force, the good side that the Jedi possess. By bringing a balance, the evil castaways are vanquished and the true force, the good side, is the only one remaining. You see, there are 2 sides to every Schwartz...:)

When people were waiting in line 6 weeks before eps 1's release on the sidewalks I couldn't believe it. They ended up creating a mini community with security, leaders, everything.
Can someone explain to me what it mean exactly when they say "bring balance to the force".

It's going to be sad to see Star Wars go. I suppose it's best to have it's creator at the helm when the ship goes down.
It's funny that a lot of us (myself included) had been waiting with childlike anticipation of Episode I when it came out. And even with all of the disappointments that both Episodes I, and II, brought, I find myself still having that same "I can't wait" feeling as I did as a child, now that we're less than a year away from episode III.
I love seeing the Star Wars movies opening day with the rest of the nuts. I have to admit it gives me chills to hear the audience roar in unison when the "20th Century Fox" logo and theme come up, as well as the Lucasfilm logo. Then the ultimate deafening roar when the Star Wars logo comes up with the symphony strike! Not to mention the cheers from the whole crowd in Episode I when Amidala ask's "what is his number" and Pinaca answers "R2D2 your highness". I love getting wrapped up in the whole "Star Wars craze"! It's like being a kid again. And now it's coming to an end. :.(
You know, it doesn't matter if you're a Star Wars fan or not, or weather people want to admit it or not, upon it's release in 1977, George Lucas changed Science Fiction movies forever with "A New Hope".

Yeah, any entrance of Vader was creey with the breathing and the music. That's why his first appearance should literally shock the audience and make them feel uncomfortable. He's the man that goes on to destroy whole planets, and his relationship with Luke is the crux of the whole saga. i hope that Episode III is all around great, but the entrance of Vader is the most important part.

Tim,
I agree with you that there seemed to be more behind Yoda's wanting to forego Anikens training. It seemed like he didn't have the patience to explain it to Obi-wan.
I don't think Quigon is evil. You'd have seen it in Episode I at some point. Quigon's character was always kind, and trying to do the right thing protecting Amidala and her crew. I think Dooku was just being a jerk trying to get Obi-wan's goat.
As for the shout heard from Quigon in the Tuskan Raider death scene, it was a sound bite from Episode I when Darth Maul is coming at Aniken and Quigon yells "Aniken, DROP!" I think Lucas' reason behind putting that sound bite in during that scene was to give you the feeling that Anikens life was flashing before his eyes. Because suddenly he's going against all the training and morals he's ever been given by both Quigon and Obi-wan. At least that's my take on it. Quigon was "rumored" to return in "ghost form" in Episode III, however I don't see his name in the credits on IMDB. So maybe that's a bogus rumor? I really hope Lucas wraps things up for us in Episode III. If he doesn't, where will we get the answers? Maybe we'll have to put together a Star Wars tribunal and prosecute George?
Maybe vanishing as a Jedi, has to do with doing something extremely special or honorable in your life? In ANH Obi-wan vanishes giving his life so the rest can get away. Yoda vanishes in ROTJ after bringing Luke (the last hope of the Jedi's return) to Jedi Master. What about all the Jedi in Episode II that died in the arena? You don't see them disappearing! The one Jedi get's killed in mid air, and then plumets 100 feet to the ground. I think the disappearing thing must have to do with doing something special before they die. Maybe it has to do with being a gentile "Mystic" or an evil "Skeksi"? After all Mystics disappear when they die, and Skeksi's turn to dust. Have we just started a game of "the seven degree's of Frank Oz"? lol :D
TGP,
I CANNOT wait to see Aniken appear for the first time as Vader!!! I sort of envision that moment being like when he steps out of the shadows in Empire when Luke comes into the Carbonite chamber room. Hearing that respirator of his suck in air, then pause... and slowly exhale... That scared THE HECK out of me when I was a kid!
"what the hell is Goofy anyway?" "have you ever noticed on wagon train they never get anywhere?... they just keep on wagon training"

You all yap about Anaken being the most powerful Jedi ever, yet, in the last film, Anaken was the only one to say that about himself. Quigon believed him to be the chosen one to bring balance to the force, but maybe when Yoda was saying “Difficult to see the dark side is” he may have been making his directions at Anaken. Did any of you guys ever think of that?
When you look at the already known facts, LUKE was the one who brought balance to the force and not Anaken. Fact is, Quigon could have been wrong thinking Anaken was the chosen one, and this might also be a clue to why Quigon did not vanish when he was killed. Quigon may have sensed the essence of the chosen one to come in the offspring of Anaken, he just wasn’t a powerful enough Jedi to figure it out – thus the reason he may not have vanished like other Jedi’s in death.

TGP,
Good memory! That's still one of my favorite films to date.
"now he said sick'em boy... but what I heard was... chopper, sick balls" "(beep) my fat one, you cheap dime store hood" "who told you you had a fat one Lachanze?" lol ;)
Tim,
I agree with you that Luke brought balance, but how does Quigons not disappearing tie in? Is this the after life punishing Quigon for getting it wrong? Aniken may have still brought balance to the force... albeit indirectly.
If Yoda were making his directions at Aniken, don't you think he would have convinced the councel to decide against having him trained as a Jedi?
I'll have you know Mr. Rayn man, we don't "yap", we discuss with great vigor! lol. ;) :D

Yeah, but remember, Yoda didn't want to train him to be a Jedi. He said he was already too old, but I think there was a little more behind Yoda's thoughts that any of us know about. I felt there was something more to why he didn't want to train him, and I could see it in those little CGI/Animatronic eyes of his.
Yes, maybe Quigon's not vanishing ties into the fact that he made a choice that would eventually destroy the Jedi. Then again, Quigon is more of a rogue Jedi than most others. He breaks the rules where he sees fit and follows his own logic, rather than what the council sets as the proper path. We got subtle hints of this in episode I, Unfortunately, we only got one movie to see just a small portion of the character's development. Also, think about the conversation Duku had with Obiwan in the prisoner chamber. Would Quigon have actually joined forces with Duku had he known about what was happening in the Republic? Obiwan said, "Quigon would never join you, Duku!" and Duku replies, "Don't be too sure my young apprentice." Is it possible that Quigon might actually be . . . evil?
Regardless of the silly questions I keep coming up with, I just feel there may be more plot holes to come from the Quigon character. In Episode II, When Ani was killing all those Sandpeople and Yoda was meditating on the pain of it, you could clearly hear Quigons voice yelling "Aniken!"
To add to the question of why didn't Quigon vanish after being killed, I ask, why didn't Obiwan question the fact that he didn't vanish? If this is the way Jedi die, then why didn't anyone in the movie question Quigon not vanishing after death? To be honest, it seems like quite a big loophole in the story and some very bad story telling if you ask me. Maybe there will be some answer in the third film, and maybe not. Who knows?

I think an R-rating would be excessive, but a PG-13 would be great. If Lucas makes this film as dark as it should be, and the pictures do look dark and gruesome, than it could get a PG-13. But a PG is more likely. They should make the transformation of Anakin into Vader scary and intense. You began to see him change when his mother died and he killed all the sand people, and this should be that taken to the nth degree. I hope Episode III is sweet. I loved Episode II, and Episode I was not great but a worthy entry into the Star Wars series.
P.S. "All of your fathers are gonna get a call from me. Except for the loony up in Togas." :) I LOVE THIS MOVIE!

The definition of balance obviously means equality. If you take away one side of something, you've created "imbalance". So, maybe this is yet another of George's "plot holes"? Or... George could be waiting to drop an explanation bomb on us all in Episode III... mmmm not likely but, we can wish. lol

Yeah, there are definetly a few plot holes in Star Wars, but I'm willing to get over them...
My real question is, when is Lucas going to settle on a definitive version of Star Wars? He called the Special Editions the definitive, now he's changing them slightly again for the DVD's (supposedly also definitive), and there is a rumored Archive Edition that will be even more altered after Episode III. So which is the definitive? Does Lucas even know what he wants?

A "balance" implies an equal distribution of weight or amount, a measure of different, sometimes opposing, elements, but not necessarily in equal proportions. The human psyche, for instance, is said to be made up of the id, the ego, and the superego, forces within us that govern our impulsive, subconscious desires and reactions as well as our outward, mindful behavior. Sublimating the dark side of our nature to the will of the more socially acceptable side is what most civilized humans do on a daily basis. But without that dark side in us, we really wouldn't know what acceptable behaviour was. We need the balance of good and evil in the world to understand the character of each. Without good, there can be no bad. Without bad, there can be no good. There is a balance in all things, even in the Force.

Sean,
I think you may have misunderstood our comments. I love the Star Wars series, but I think we can all agree that the last two weren't anywhere near the quality of IV V & VI. That said, I think Lucas is capable of being a good "story teller". I think he did quite well in ANH, ESB, & ROTJ. Not to mention the Indiana Jones series (both TV & Movie). Oh well, all good things come to an end eventually.

So nobody here's really into Star Wars, huh? ;)
I've heard it said several times that basically Lucas would be putting everything he's got into EPIII as it's the last of the Star Wars movies. To this I just have to say that going into EPI, Lucas had to know that Star Wars was the legacy he was leaving to the world. This series will be the very thing that Lucas will forever be known for.
That being said, I wouldn't put too much stock in EPIII being any better than EPI or EPII. This is obviously the direction he wants to take the franchise, and, in my humble opinion, he has truly lost his way. If he was looking to make two mediocre prequels and a boffo final one to cap it all off, then he really is the hack and slave to marketing that I fear he has become.
We can hope this, we can hope that, but in the final analysis, I think Tim's insights serve much of this discussion best: Lucas is not a very good storyteller. He is an excellent marketer and technological pioneer, but is obviously lacking in a number of other aspects integral to making a good film.
To answer some questions already posed:
- R2D2 is really Luke and Leia's father. Why do you think he got his memory wiped?
- C3PO had his memory wiped because he walked in on R2 and Padme.
- Quigon is actually just Anakin's alter ego, his Tyler Durden. Why do you think Anakin heard his voice?
- Jabba becomes the spokesperson for Weight Watchers.
- Anakin gets those burns from spilling a cup of hot microwaved soup on himself when Obi Wan surprises him during lunch (remember, microwave technology wasn't yet perfected a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away)
- Midichlorians are actually a form of STD.
- The "balance" Yoda is talking about is that butter substitute everyone uses nowadays. Anakin was trying to invent it. Truly a man ahead of his time.
And the overall truth present in the Star Wars universe:
Being a whiner makes you the baddest man in the universe!
Sean (...would you like some cheese with that, Anakin?...) :D

TGP,
I think we'd ALL like the answer to your DVD question! How many times can you change something (each time supposedly the final) before it becomes unrecognizeable from the original?
John,
Good point. I always think of the of balance in the "equality" sense (e.g. Lady Justice). I tried to apply that logic to the Star Wars storyline, and I can't seem to come up with the answer to Depression's question to what Quigon meant by "Bring balance to the force" in Episode I. The statement means that (at the time in Episode I) there was imbalance in the force. So, does that mean that the Jedi wish for the Sith to return so there will be balance? That doesn't make sense to me. So where is the imbalance? Maybe someone of greater nerdiness than I can find the answer? lol. :D

Josh,
I wasn't referring to you specifically, or really anyone here at DVDTown necessarily. I was actually just discussing things I've heard from numerous folks over the past couple of years regarding Lucas' decline.
I agree with you that Lucas used to be able to spin a pretty good yarn, but once he dropped his own creedo (You can have all the effects in the world, but if you don't have a good story, you don't have a movie) things certainly took a turn for him.
I'm very glad that George Lucas has been involved in filmmaking. Because of him we have some amazing technical advances that truly enhance film viewing. To this I will always give him credit.
Sean (...with a Jedi hand sweep: "credits will be fine"...)

Sean,
Ahhh yes, Murphy was certainly listening the day Lucas spoke those famous last words!
What's sort of interesting to think about is Lucas made the comment that he didn't want to do episodes VII, VIII, & IX because he had "other projects" he wanted to complete. I wonder if any of us will pay that much attention to any of these projects being that they won't have "Star Wars" stamped on them. On the other hand, as I mentioned before, the Indiana Jones TV & Movies were excellent! Come to think of it, I still love "Willow". THX 1138 was wierd, but still good. The "Amazing Stories" tv show I loved as a kid, and seemed well produced. Hmm... so maybe we will pay attention?

Ahhh yes, Murphy was certainly listening the day Lucas spoke those famous last words!

Okay, I got the Ultimate Star Wars question:
I just watched Ep. II, and after Mace decapitates Jango Fett, and Boba picks up his helmet, why didn't his head fall out? It would be a good reason as to how Boba became a ruthless bounty hunter since he was so traumatized at seeing his father's sliced-off, smiling head :)

TGP,
You could be right... Empire may just have gotten a "PG-13" rating now days. I'm not sure anymore though. The rating system seems like it's either corrupt, or they aren't adhering to their own standards. I could get into a HUGE rant about this, but I won't.
I'd love to see Lucas make Episode III a 3 hour movie though. I think a long final farewell to Star Wars would be nice. Especially if more character building is done. Being that we've established that a good majority of the audience is under 10 years old however, it will never happen.

"that's not the secret knock" "I forget the secret knock!" "VERN!"

"They trace those calls, stupid. I've seen it on Dragnet."
Yeah, I know, I was just kidding. But a PG-13 rating wouldn't hurt Episode III if they went for a darker, more sinister tone that befits the transformation into Vader. But I bet it'll be PG. By today's standards, Empire would have probably been PG-13...

I think I have your answer TGP.
His head didn't fall out because Lucas wanted to maintain his "PG" rating. A very large portion of today's Star Wars viewing audience are still kids.
"Seven cents Vern?" "I still haven't found my penny jar!"

Seeing as how the DVD Set was just released, I felt it appropriate to resurrect this thread.
This may seem inconsequential (and probably quite nerdy), but does anyone know if there's any significance to the "operating number" in the line "TK421, why aren't you at your post?!"?

>>When and why do R2 & 3P0 have a memory wipe?
A better question is will Lucas bother with it at all or will he blow it off?
>>Why didn't Quigon disappear when he was killed?
Because he wasn't righteous like Obi-Wan and Yoda and he lacked wisdom. That's my theory anyway.

I thought I'd resurrect this little gem one last time before the 19th. Does anyone have an inside scoop? Has anyone here been to a premier and know if any of the questions posted here are answered?

TGP, his head actually flies out of the helmet when it gets severed. All you see is a faint, flesh-toned blur going in the opposite direction of the helmet as both fly out of frame. It may of been something else, but the trajectory seems to come from the neck of Jengo, and it happens at the same time.

Well, I seem to have solved one of the questions. 'Ol Georgie boy has kept "Revenge Of The Sith" pretty darn near the length as the other two pre-quils. "Phantom Menace" 133 minutes. "Attack Of The Clones" 143 minutes. And now "Revenge of the Sith" 140 minutes. So at least it will be as long as the first two.

As Lucas intended "Star Wars" to be fantasy mythology rather than sci-fi, the Skywalker siblings kissing each other fits in with ancient Greek and Roman models. Plus, it's not as if Luke and Leia knew that they were twins.
