Yeah, I heard rumors that Proyas really tried to keep the Smith factor to a minimal.

Personally, for me, this was the best movie of the summer. I know I am the minority here, but I enjoyed it more than Spider-Man 2. As for Will, I thought he was breaking away from the mold here. He still had the smart ass attitude, but his character was a lot darker and with more convictions than usual. By the way a good Will Smith performance is "Six Degrees of Separation," where he played a gay con man pretending Sidney Poitier's son. Anyway, one problem I had with this movie was that they neved explained the relationship between Smith and the kid from "Holes."

I'll hate to see a "minority report-bicentinial man-t2-AI"Cross makeover with a rap attitude...but it is widely wispered that the effects on this one are far more better than spidey 2.

I saw it today. I thought it was very well made. Plenty of story, witty dialog, intense action, what else are we suppose to expect from a summer flick? The pacing was very smooth with very few-and-far between dull moments. And no, I didn't see anything that would even closely resemble a "rap" attitude in the film.
Will Smith played a cop that was ever so distrusting of the robot world. He gave plenty of conviction and good reasoning for his character. Maybe it was the same old Will we've seen in other films, but hey, if your good at it, then what's the problem? Bruce Willis has played plenty of "the same guy" roles for years, why doesn't anyone complain about that? It's like going back to the 60's and saying, "I wish John Wayne would stop playing the same cowboy in ever western he does".
I thought "I Robot" was very entertaining for the money. It was pure and simple summer fare that really did very little to disapoint. Personally, I don't care about all of the negative feedback it has received. I figure, there are those few films out there were you feel they got it wrong, and in my opinion, "I Robot" is one of them. For some reason this film flipped my switch. I got into it from the very beginning and enjoyed it right to the very end. Now, does it measure up to films like "AI", "2001", "Minority Report"? Maybe not, but I'd have to say there was very little to gripe about.

I have to retract some of my earlier predictions of this film. I saw it Tuesday, and I must say it was nothing close to how it was portrayed in the commercials. I REALLY enjoyed this movie. It did have a "Will Smith line" here and there, but it was tasteful and kept to a minimum as Depression mentioned earlier. Will's performace was very well done. The movie had excellent dialogue, plot developement, and character depth. It felt a little rushed towards the end, but not enough to merit a bad rating.
Excellent film.
