I noticed a lack of independent film in the forum, so I thought I'd bring up this little gem. I saw it a couple of weeks ago, and so far has been the funniest movie I've seen all year, but I'm sure that will be eclipsed by Anchorman. Anyway, this one is only playing in art house theaters right now. It's humor and look is similar to a Wes Anderson movie. It's about a high schooler whos pretty much the nerd of the school, wears moon-boots, draws unicorn, ect and how he adapts with the world around him. There really isnt much of a plot, but has tons of great jokes and characters. No big stars either, the only familiar faces are Jon Gries (the janitor from Real Genius) and Deidrich Bader (The Drew Carey). Anyway, if you're looking for a good comedy, check it out...

I prefer not to segment a movie by calling it "independent" or "studio" or whatever you prefer... instead I categorize by "good" and "crap" and "Battlefield Earth-esque"
I thought it was pretty funny, but didn't quite hold up for me. I prefer a different brand of comedy, more slapstick and dialogue-based. It was a good movie, however.
And Anchorman... lord, almighty, judging by Will Ferrell's interview on Conan O'Brien... that's going to be either the finest comedy ever or quite possibly the biggest trainwreck in history. That having been said, I didn't mind Zoolander. ;)

This is the greatest movie in the history of cinema. It blows all this Dodgeball and Anchorman crap out of the water. I cant wait for the DVD!
