Am I the only one seeing "The Manchurian Candidate" tomorrow night and not
"The Village," just wondering?

Yeah, I read good things about the remake too. I just hope it has the wit of the first one. The tea party/old lady scene gets me everytime...

Critics seem to love it. The same can't be said about The Village.

The things Moore discussed in Fahrenheit 9/11 werem't fictional? :p
I'm just kidding, I'm not starting a debate. Carry on!

TWill,

Yeah, I'm gonna go see "The Manchurian Candidate" as well. Based on what I know, it looks as if it'll be a fictional version of the things that Michael Moore discussed in "Fahrenheit 9/11" (as in, a powerful company that makes weapons wants a president that it can influence).

Manchurian Candidate looks good, but I probably won't see it in theater. The original is awesome so I'll definetly see it on DVD. Demme is a great director, but his last remake attempt also had a good cast and it was pretty mediocre (The Truth About Charlie is a remake of Charade with Cary Grant). I still think this will be a good film, but I still have to go to I, Robot and I'm going to The VIllage tomorrow. I can't wait for Collateral and AVP...

Pretty hesitant about this one. I just feel the original is so good that it's nearly impossible to come even close to hitting that mark.

Actually, looking only at Yahoo, the Village and Manchurian Candidate get the same letter grade of B-.

Sean (B-...dang!...I forgot to take that vitamin today!...)

I have to say I wasn't very impressed with this one. There were plenty of moments of true suspense and the performances were great, but the ending was not up to par and I just felt incredibly underwhelmed by it.

i thought that the beginning was too slow. it's not a bad movie, even when compared to the original. however, it was too damn long.

Eddie, I get the impression that you don't like long movies. I've read a LOT of reviews where you criticized a film for being too long (The Two Towers EE immediatly comes to mind but I know there are a lot more). Many of the films you criticize I enjoy immensely. Heck, my fave films are the Godfather Trilogy, each of which clocks in at 3 hours or more. I don't mean to offend or discredit you, but could you shed some light on this?
