Dude, it's hilarious. The French Academy of Language wasn't happy that people were using the word e-mail, so they came up with a new French word for Internet letters. This is a far cry from German and Japanese, which try to incorporate as many English nouns as possible.

Eddie, you are gonna love this. The SCART connector was developed by the French. Its original purpose was to prevent foreign television imports.

Nah, it's simply a matter of knowing how to turn certain words into nouns even when they begin life as verbs, adjectives, or adverbs. (Yes, I was an English major.)
