I am want to purchase a HDMI DVD player for our Panasonic CT-34WX53. It appears that many of them have performance issues--Sony NS975V, Toshiba SD-597, Samsung, LG, etc. I can't find review info on the Panasonic S97S. I found one favorable review on the Denon 2910. Any advice would be appreciated.

Since HDMI is such a new technology you're not going to find many players that support it. You might be better off going with a DVI player and using a DVI-to-HDMI connection cable... it's what I'm doing. I have the Samsung HD-841 which is an ok player, but I'm probably going to upgrade soon. I'd recommend you check out the Bravo, Inc V2 or Denon 1910, both have scored excellent marks.

I got the Toshiba SD5980, its working out really well so far. It was recommeded by BB, over Samsung equivalent hdmi players.

By and large I've heard nothing but negatives regarding the Sammy up-converting players. It's why I sold mine.
