aiwa model no. xd-dw1u.It says the dvd tray is open, but it is not. sorry have no more info, can't even find it online. the disc will not spin either, might be because it says the tray is open

Aiwa...maybe the only company that its model's laser lenses are GUARANTEED to malfunction within months. Probably your laser lens is crapped up, or your tray is closed but the player gets a reading that the tray is still open.

aiwa once used to be a premium brand. sony bought out aiwa, and aiwa is now sony's discount brand. bummer.

4 years isn't bad! That's about the average I've heard of DVD players living. Yes, it sucks that it died, but, it's time for a new one. :)

I paid 800 dollars including insurance, now they are around 150 dollars :) Of course it broke about a month after the warranty was up. :)
