Hi, I have a Sony DVD/VCR combo that I bought about 10 months ago. I have never had one problem with it and I keep my player and my DVDs in excellent condition. Recently, I rented an older movie from blockbuster which froze several times, so I stopped it and took it out. Unfortunately, now not a single DVD will play without freezing. I tried cleaning it with a DVD disc cleaner to no avail. My questions- 1). is there something I can do at home (besdies cleaning it) to remedy the situation 2). If the answer to that is no- is it better to just buy a new one or attempt to get it fixed?

When buying a new one- this player was a moderately priced (around $130) name brand player- so was this a fluke and more on Blockbusters end or should I be springing for a more expensive player?

Thank you very much in advance for any help/ insight!

I suggest to go to the service . Not try to do more complicated things with your player, because there is a big chance to destroy something else. As previous poster said, it is probably in warranty so it is not going to cost you anything.
From my expirience I think Sony has very good dvd players.

Sony carries a 1 year warranty on parts (labor expires after the first 90 days), so you might as well bring it in for repair. Hope you can find your original receipt! Good luck.

Thanks for your help. I am not sure if it is under warranty. I'll check on that. Thanks again.
