I haven't seen mention of this on the board, so I thought I'd share. A friend of mine found a trailer for HG coming to theaters! It's only a teaser, but it looks as if they've got a much larger budget than the TV series had, so the CG should be very nice! Even if it isn't however, this movie would be WELL worth a full price ticket!
I'll post more info. when I get it.

Matt,
My friend had to find the trailer though "bit torrent", and get it that way. If I find a location on the net, I'll be sure to post it.
From what I understand, it will be a British film with British actors. I think any other way would disgrace the storie's history. Besides, the fans would pitch a fit. There's speculation that the film will incorporate the first two books. This film will be a "test" platform for the planned sequels. If it does well, then we'll see more in the future.

http://www.themoviebox.net/movies/2005/DEFGH/Hitchhikers/trailer.php
that site has a trailer and cast/crew info that reads:
Director:
Garth Jennings (Debut)
Cast:
Martin Freeman, John Malkovich, Mos Def, Zooey Deschanel, Bill Nighy, Sam Rockwell, Warwick Davis, Steve Pemberton, Anna Chancellor
Release Date:
June 3, 2005
the date looks nice, but we (in the US) might have to wait a while for it (like shaun of the dead).
and it has john malkovich, zooey deschanel, mos def, and warwick davis (lmao, he played leprechaun!), who are all americans. but judging by the dental work of the crew in some of the picture, i wouldnt doubt its a british production

Matt,
Do you ever go to school, or do you just hang out all day at DVD Town? OK, do I sound like your dad? Sorry. Obviously, I'm glad to have you here. But remember to study, too.

just found out that Martin Freeman, or "Tim" (as I know him) from the funniest live action show ever (family guy takes the overall top spot), "the office", will play protagonist Arthur Dent. Sounds Great!
(if only dvdtown was a real town...)
