Hey, I'm a LONG time DVD Town visitor! I like the new site design :D !
A a question to other fans:
What do you like most about the reviews?
My friends and I who frequent this site really count on DVD Town reviews to tell us about the quality of the disc (audio/video) and to go in depth about the extras.
I like that the reviewers have the knowledge to pick apart the technical aspects of DVDs and lets us know about it. I also like tons of talk about the extras because we can't find that anywhere else.
My point is that I wish the story commentary in the reviews wouldn't be so extensive. I mean, people have access to TONS of established critics and likely the majority of the people who are reading a review have likely seen the film and are considering buying it...Therefore not interested in being told whether it's good or not.
Story reviews we can get anywhere (I like Rotten Tomatoes since it takes an average of many critics) but disc and extras quality- we can't.
This also might lead to more disc reviews coming out.... hehehehe 8)
Just wondering what anyone thinks.... ??? ;)

Ah, through the heart! You cut me to the quick.
Well, I guess that's why we label the various sections of the reviews. If you aren't interested in the film critique and analysis, just skip ahead to the Audio, Video, and Extras sections.

No! You're taking it the wrong way!!!!!!!
I love reading the reviews! It's just that I REALLY (and my friends) eat up all the talk about Audio, Video and Extras.
You guys know you're shit! I'm in the Television industry but I'm nowhere near the DVD connoisseurs that you guys are.
Sorry if offense was taken. It's just that, that's why I come here.
Plus, anyway to get more reviews- the better!

No offense taken. I just appreciate your reading any part of our reviews.
But I was serious about the review sections. A person should be able to quickly find his way around any piece of writing and read just what he wants. As for the critiques, well, the film is what most of us reviewers like to talk about most. We're film fans so it goes without saying we love talking about films.

I'd much rather read Johns reviews over any of those wanna-be critics on Rotten Tomatoes. :D

Dear All-My-People:
I totally understand what you're trying to tell us, and believe it or not, I actually agree with your points--especially about how we could produce more reviews than we do now if we cut down on our discussions of movies themselves and focused mainly on the Video/Audio/Extras.
That being said, the main reason why our "primary reviews" are so lengthy is because we simply enjoy the act of writing. This is the same reason why our discussions of DVDs' Video/Audio/Extras are so extensive--we have loads of things to communicate to our readers, so we write and write and write...
I'm a bit biased because I work for DVD Town, but when speaking as a DVD fan, I like reading my colleagues' reviews more than I do the reviews at other sites because the people at the other sites are just so darn lazy. They list DVDs' technical specs and leave things at that. If I wanted only technical specs, I can go to a DVD retailer, lol.
Thanks for the feedback! :)

To support the staff I like the movie analysis part of reviews. Sure, it is interesting to know ahead about the extras and all of the technical points, but those are just extras. The movie is why we get a DVD, not the extras. Although, in some the bonuses are way better than the motion picture, I know. Yes, there are many critics each with an opinion and that is why it is interesting to compare.
