Actually, what we do is an IP search, and while you're reading our extensive and lengthy reviews, we sneak into your house (a la The Grinch) and clean you out. Why do you think we make them so long? Academics? ;)
I agree with you on the layout of the advertisments, they aren't obtrusive at all and infact are a perfect compliment to the site, encouraging purchases rather than background noise that simply is ignored.

Would just like to say that I agree that you guys are great. I love the structure of the site. Very professional, nothing missing, not much to add. Love the reviews and message board. Good job. How do you make money though? I know you post advertisements (which are not annoying at all!), but is that it?

Nachtkriechen,
Not only did Henning have this DVD site up almost the moment DVDs were first unleashed on the world (1997), he'll be the first to have a dedicated site for high-definition DVDs (HD-DVD) as well. Check out the HDDVD.org tab at the top of the page.

Thank you! I love being surrounded by people that are not only fans, but articulate enough to espouse on the wonders of film and technology... makes for a great mix.

We're glad that you enjoy the site. We were one of the first DVD-news-and-reviews sites on the Internet, actually. :)

Well, I have to say the IP search comment (if true) is a little disturbing... but I still love your site! John, to reply to yours, I actually found DVD Town through HDDVD.org by searching for info on the net about HD DVD! Small world eh? I agree with Justin whole heartedly. It's nice to be able to have discussions with intelligent people, about intelligent topics, as well as being capable of communicating WITHTOUT using the "F" word as an adjective. It's unfortunate to see there are a few members that have "anger management" issues, and like to belittle others because of their views or opinions... but I suppose that's a small price to pay for freedom of speach.
I look forward to hearing from you all in the future.

Well, Henning said they were joking, and I take them at their word. But an IP search would be a search of all the Internet Protocol (or IP) addresses on your computer to see what site's you visit. Some software manufacturers like bearshare, and kazaa make this type of "snooping" software part of the installation agreement so they can provide internet retailers with valuable marketing information about the sites most visited by people, as well as so they can custom design "pop up" ad's for you based upon your internet browsing.
Hope that explains it for you Sasha.

yeah, we hate things like kazaa, so don't worry--we don't do what they do. :)
