The Wall Street Journal reported that Time Warner Inc. has changed course on its bid for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. (MGM) and put an all-cash offer of between $4.5 and $4.6 billion on the table. The bid reverses a previous proposal that would have given MGM controlling shareholder Kirk Kerkorian unregistered Time Warner stock for the studio. In an apparent move to temper expectations, MGM announced that recent reports suggesting a possible deal "at a price as high as $5 billion" were inaccurate.
