Long time DVDtown.com user, first time poster.
I've been using DVD Town for a while to categorize my own collection and wishlist, as well as read the reviews and announcements on upcoming DVD titles. I'm not sure how my collection compares to most others out there but I have around 160 titles and am constantly trying to convince my wife to let me buy more. :)
Anyway, just curious if DVD Town users are ever encouraged or allowed to write reviews for DVD titles. Obviously there are a large number of DVD titles here that do not have reviews and I'd love to write some reviews for a few of them.
Ultimately I'm just curious about your review methods; who writes them, what the length/content requirements are, required home theater equipment, etc. Let me know! And if there's a chance you'll accept some reviews from me, I'd love to contribute to this fantastic site.
Thanks and keep up the great work.

If you're interested in becoming a staff reviewer for DVD Town, you should contact our new Managing Editor, Chris Long. You'll find his contact information in "About/Meet the Staff," above. Chris will ask you to submit several example reviews, plus your resume, background, qualifications, and experience in the field of film.

Really? Did the reviewer Justin Cleveland went through that? He writes like he never did.

Hm..just a suggestion. Perhaps the users could write "guest reviews", which could be viewed by a staff member before posting it. There could be rules set, such as the minimum limit of words, etc., and if the review isn't up to par with the site, then the user can be informed that his/her review isn't what you're looking for.
just a suggestion..;)

Alexanderi,
Thanks for the suggestion; we've considered it on occasion. But it's probably best to leave things as they are. We always encourage readers to post their own reviews (of any length) in the Reader Comments section of every review, which any number of readers have done.

We appreciate your comments, too, but you might consider not trying so hard to live up to your name.

Judging by his alias, it looks as if he's looking for attention. I find it more than a little funny however, that someone that shows such disdain for DVD Town also cares enough not only to organize his DVDs here, but also to to rate his favorites. ;)
But, welcome anyway, DVDTOWNISBS! :)
