Some feedback for the site:

The banner ads are driving me nuts. I understand that you require advertising revenue to support the website and staff, but some of the ads are getting REALLY annoying. I'm referring to the ads that just randomly 'appear' in the middle of the screen.

Those alone aren't too bad I guess. I can always play the find-the-remarkably-well-hidden-close-button game to get rid of it.

And the banner ads that scroll open to a larger banner when your mouse passes over them are only mildly annoying, especially since most of my dvdtown.com navigating is done with the buttons at the top, so my mouse almost always HAS to roll over the annoying ads. Then I get to play find-the-close-button again.

But what is REALLY annoying is when the two styles combine. Like when I click on a review and a banner ad is displayed at the top AND a random middle-of-the-screen ad appears. The middle-of-the-screen on gets overlapped by the top banner ad, which conveniently covers the CLOSE button, preventing me from getting rid of the banner ad. At the same time, my frantic attempts to try and find the close button make the top banner scroll open, blocking even more of my screen.

The sad part is that the wonderful banners that support DVDTown are responsible for covering up the reviews and site content when I want to read it! Arg!!

Sigh...

Just ranting. I know the Internet-advertising monster cannot be stopped by the likes of me. I just wonder how long until the Internet no longer has content...just ads. Well, I'm sure it will always have content, we'll just reach a point where the content is completely covered with ads you can't close.

Ok, rant done.

And the truth shall set you free!

Seriously though, I don't seem to be having any problems, just try getting a pop-up blocker or use Mozilla Firefox as your internet browser. Don't worry about the ranting though, what would the purpose of a message board be if not to rant? Sure, you can use it as advertising space as so many people often do, or try and find out info, but honestly, the main meat of the message boards is ranting. It's a shame so many people are forgetting that. My name is senator Bob Rumpson, and I approve this message.

Over the years I've trained myself to ignore ads (pop-up or otherwise). Not to mention television commercials. When there's an intermission in a TV program, it's almost second nature for me to hit the "mute" button, until the program comes back on. Rare is the occasion where an ad will get my attention anymore. save the Superbowl commercials. But even the Superbowl commercials have lost their hillarity, and luster.
