When reviewing a TV show DVD, do you watch every episode on the set, or only enough to get a general feel for the show? I assume watching an entire season would take up far too much time, and you wouldn't be able to sit through 15 hours of one show at a time.
I've wondered this for a while, so how many episodes do you watch before writing the review?
Thanks

When I've done TV sets, I watch every single episode. You basically take a weekend out to cover and entire season and then use the entire next day to write the review. You need the entire day to review because there are always at least 20+ episodes to cover.

yah, we watch each and every episode. otherwise, if we only watched the best or the worst episodes of a show, then our opinion of it would be skewed. of course, if we've already seen certain episodes on tv during their initial run, then we've already seen them and don't need to re-watch them when reviewing a dvd set.

It depends on the show. Some I've seen before, like "House" so I don't need to watch every one, I just sample them for A/V quality. Others, like "Enterprise" I'll watch through since I haven't seen the entire season. But since time is tough, it's why I try to avoid doing TV show reviews :)

It depends on the set. Sometimes it just isn't possible to watch every episode. I'm afraid I didn't have, oh, I dunno, 40 hours to set aside to watch every single episode and extra feature in the Monty Python 16 ton Megaset. I'm sure I've seen most of them in my life and I rewatched a hefty sample before writing the review, but to watch every episode would mean shortchanging approximately 15 other movies that I could have reviewed in the same time, something I would never do.

Well, as many television season sets that come out each week, it's clear to see that we don't cover every one of them. I can't imagine any one of us having the time to dedicate to every TV DVD set that comes along. I think we at least try to get the ones we feel would be worth the effort.
