You know what'd be cool... during the next Quidiche match, have Vuldimort manipulate a lightening storm, and kill all the players on both teams in one monstrous lightning bolt! It might bring back the fear that everyone is "supposed" to have for Vuldimort. As it lies, books 1 - 3 are almost like a "Scooby Doo" episode... (Vuldimort: "And I would have succeded too, if it weren't for those darn kids!"). Keep in mind, I haven't read book 4, or 5 yet. ;)

Personally, I think Rowling would be crazy to kill off any of Harry's peers. The death of a child, especially a love one, is always upsetting and would change the whole tone of the series, probably greatly disturbing many youngsters for whom the books are primarily aimed.
