just got home from seeing this, and I am not impressed. the movie was very similar to "the ring" (i've heard many japanese horror movies are similar, anyways), and the story was very odd. almost nothing was explained (i think the original got a sequel), and the attempted scares were pretty funny. after 10 minutes, my friend, I, and some high school or college kids near us turned the theater into an episode of "Mystery Science Theater 3000". but I had a good time, so I can't complain that much.

Not going to see it, I'm going to go for SAW instead this weekend. Hopefully I end up liking it.
The Grudge really seems to be taking a beating from the critics.

I think Saw has great potential, greater than the Grude, so I will see that. But I also want to see Ray, and eventually I Heart Huckabees. I just saw Shaun of the Dead (awesome) and it looks like I'm going to miss Sky Captain and Team America. Oh well.

When I went to see the Grudge, it was frickin irritating. I can't rightly say whether or not I liked the movie (it seemed pretty good) because there was a mass of immature, high-school aged kids screaming cliches (although they seemed to think they were clever) like "Run, Buffy, Run!" or "No, Buffy! Don't go in there!"
You missed "Sky Captain"?! That is, visually, one of the most beautifully strange movies I've ever seen. Very fun to watch.
