Sorry, Sasha, R2 DVDs are VERY different than R1. Different pressers, different encoding, often different studios in charge of releasing the movies. It's why the R4 Back to the Future set has dts while the R1 does not. The PAL vs NTSC difference is the most obvious, and is consistant through every set.

Sasha,

R2 DVDs are encoded in PAL. This makes them inherently different from R1 DVDs.

Actually, this is not always true. There is often differences in picture and audio quality between R2 and R1 releases. Sometimes R1's are better, sometimes R2's are better. There is a website called DVD Beaver that regularly does comparisons between various different Region releases, and in a number of cases, there really is a difference. Menus are often different as well.

In Canada, where we get Region 1 releases, the versions are identical, with only "Made in Canada" stickers applied to the cases. There are, on occasion, releases with different content, covers and cases (The Pianist, and the Toy Story/Toy Story 2 2-Pack come to mind)

Back to recruiting reviewers.

Eddie:
British R2 releases are identical to American R1 in everything except for date of release. I know we have been through this before and I realize I sound like a broken record. But I do think you may want to reconsider. Yes, I will purchase DVDs on my own. Yes, my home cinema is up to your requirements.

Come on, do I have to bribe you?
