The editor is going to get really mad at me for saying this, the advertising is what pays the bills after all, but I, too, am annoyed by the big "Elf" ad. However, I almost solved the problem on IE6 by setting the pop-up blocker to include DVD Town. Unfortunately, the fix was only temporary, and the big ad is back with a vengeance!
Oh, well...

funny thing...in order to get to this message board thread on getting rid of the Elf ad, I had to click past the Elf ad. That was AFTER I had to click past the Elf ad to get to the message board in the first place.

I agree... these new advertisements are really annoying. No offense Henning, I love the site, and I know advertising has to pay for it, but this new "page is loading" ad thing is really obnoxious.

Wouldn't be so bad if we had some diversity in the ads ;)
Unless this place becomes a pay to view type of site, I don't think we should really be complaining all that much.
I think it would be a good idea if the ads only occured when viewing the reviews and such. Not during the message board.
my 2 cents.

The Elf ad is gone, replaced with a RotK:EE ad. And it's only when you first click off the front page onto another page, and it shouldn't pop up more than once.
