Strange that this one isn't in your list of reviews- though maybe you only review newer DVD releases of older films? One of the best action/adventure/historical films ever made. Gorgeous photography and music. I have the 1999 Director's Expanded Edition DVD and it seems a pretty well done transfer though lacking in extras. Controversial decision by Director Mann to edit out several Eastwood-like comments the Day-Lewis character makes, as well as some background music by the group Clannad near the end of the film. It still works well for me, but other fans haven't been so happy about these omissions. Extended battlefield scenes were a great addition though. This film cries out for a collectors edition.

Also two other review suggestions please: The Day of the Jackal [Universal 1998] and The Big Country (MGM 2001)- a sad state of affairs that neither great film has gotten a collectors or special edition they deserve! Thanks

Hey just surprised more than anything that none of the films I mentioned were in your review database that's all. I'm no good at reviewing, I'd defer to someone whose reviewing I enjoy such as John Puccio.

Hello. Did somebody mention my name?

We try to review films as they become available to us through the studios, meaning when the studio PR departments have copies to send out, we request what we can. I believe "The Last of the Mohicans" was a Fox release? If and when they do another special edition, I'll try to get a hold of it.

a special edition? let's hope so. the director's cut deleted a lot of stuff from the theatrical version, and there's a slo-mo shot (when chingachkook kills magua) at the end of the director's cut that is awful.
