I don't even know where to begin with this one it was so bad.

Some lines from the review that best expresses my own opinions so far...

What makes "Saw" so awful is that it starts with a clever premise and then completely blows it.

For 10 magical minutes, you think "Saw" might end up being a clever conceptual mystery, that the action is going to stay confined in the room for the entire film, keeping the viewer as disoriented as the doctor and the slacker while they (and we) try to figure out who's tormenting them, and why.

No such luck

The story spins out of control like a coked-up dervish, leaving the room to explore multiple subplots and ham-fisted flashbacks until the movie becomes a blathering, howling, overwrought pile of misdirection.

This movie can be hated from so many angles you'd think it was running for president.

For starters, there's the essential tiredness of the "poetic serial killer" trope. Just once I'd like to see a movie where a serial killer leaves clues so esoteric that no one can decipher them.

Then there's the acting. Danny Glover is wasted as a former cop obsessed with the Jigsaw Killer. The last 10 minutes of this movie is laugh-out-loud funny, with seemingly every character reduced to scenery-chewing primal screams.

The acting much like the story started out on the right foot, but thats it. The acting was atrocious near the end, laugh out loud bad, and horribly written. I cannot believe this was the same Cary Elwes that did Men in Tights and The Princess Bride because this was down right shameful. Literally, in the final 15 mins of the film when Cary was trying to express true and extreme emotion the entire theater was breaking out into hysterical laughter.

Normally I get extremely annoyed by people who crack jokes during a film but today was an exception. Every wise crack made by the theater class clown was followed by a group laughter throughout the theater. It's one of those movies that is so bad the jokes and laughter are what made the experience fun. Opening weekends are full of college/hs students so I don't think anyone was too offended.

As Russell pointed out in the review the premise and beginning had me hooked. But it's all downhill from there. It's one thing for a movie to go downhill from start to finish but here it's as if you're getting stabbed and the blade is then twisted. The ending was such a cop out for me.

If you think Tony Scott has it bad for overly stylish shots, then you should meet Mr Wan. In this film I've seen some of the most ridiculous shots ever. The best example would have to be the 'fast motion' on the car chase. If that is even worthy of being considered a car chase.

Couldnt have said it better. I was completely shocked how bad Cary Elwes acting was. He finally lands a lead role in a movie in such a long time and throes it away.

The "fast motion" car chase was so bad. Reminded me of the low-budget stuff we did in film school like shaking the car and running a flash light across the winshield.

It's a shame when great ideas aren't met with great execution.

Although the theater I attended experienced the same laughs, I really did enjoy this one. The car chase scenes were filmed that way because of budget...less than a million to play with. Very tight. I think they did what they had to to try and make it work.

Maybe this movie would play better as a movie you see alone, on DVD...I don't know
