As most people know Artisan released the first near high definition disc for sale. In the Terminator 2 Extreme Edition there were two discs one with a standard definition version and a disc two with a high definition version. The version on disc one has slightly higher picture then the Ultimate Edition yet slightly worse sound. I think that balances out. Disc twos has the theatrical version at 1440 x 1080 resolution not quite true high definition which is 1920 x 1080. It is on an HD-DVD-9 which can only hold two hours of high definition so since Terminator 2 is two hours and twenty minutes long they had to settle for 1440 x 1080. Still that is 4.5x as high as the Standard version of the film. It requires a machine of 3 ghz to play the discs full potencial. A Blue Laser HD-DVD would fit the extended two hour and fifty minute movie at 1920 x 1080 on one disc. This is not HD-DVD but it is a nice little preview. This is ment to be a new DVD feature not a new format. I would buy this but I don't like Terminator 2.

Artisan released "Standing in the Shadows of Motown" before "T2:EE", and I believe that that release also has a HD version on a Disc 2...

Yes the Standing in the Shadows of Motown DVD has a higher resolution version of the film with resolution 2x that of a SD-DVD. The Terminator 2 extreme edition has 4.5x the resolution of 480p SD-DVD. Its resolution varies on how powerful your machine is. A 2.4ghz machine will play in resolution equal to 720p (1280 x 720) HD broadcasts. A 2.6 ghz machine will play in resolution equal to 1080i (1920 x 540) broadcasts. You need a 3.0 ghz machine to unlock the discs full 1440 x 1080 potential.

Because of the intrest in high definition Terminator 2 my guess when Blue Laser HD-DVD comes out in 2006 Terminator 2 will be one of the first titles avalible.

I'm confused ...but when I finally got the HD version to work on my PC, it looked good, with a noticeable better definition, but not by a whole lot a nice extra feature, nevertheless.
