:@ What is Steven Speilberg thinking?? This is such a bad idea and it's going to ruin the trilogy, Speilberg should walk away and leave Indiana Jones alone. Who agrees with me?

what was wrong with JP3? It was an action film first and foremost. Are you expecting life lesson's on morality and acts of God? Watch the first one then, don't get mad at 3 for being what it was meant to be (although please make fun of the horrendously bad music).

I know he was only a small, tiny, part of its production. But his name was stamped on it, so at some point he had to have given his seal of approval on it.

Hey now, that's slightly unfair to put down Spieberg for JP3. He was only one of the five producers of the film and he had very little, if not anything, to do with the story or direction of the film. If anything, pick on the writer Peter Buchman, or if you don't like the way it was directed, then pick on Joe Johnston.

The last that I heard about the script was that the one written by Frank Darabont (writer of the Young Indy series) was rejected by George Lucas. Since then, there were several different scripts being written.
To JediMaster2006, any new movie would ruin a trilogy, making it a quadrilogy. But Spielberg hasn't let us down yet, I have faith in him. This of course doesnt include Jurassic Park 3 or the 4th if the plot still involves zombie like dinosaurs or machine gun trained raptors in a city. So you should be much more worried about the 4th Jurassic Park film and not Indiana Jones.

What's the worst that could happen?
A bad movie. So what? It won't take away from the others. Just don't watch it.
What if they didn't make the first one because
they were scared it would be bad?:)

I'll tell you what Speilberg is thinking . . . money! :D
Movies like Indiana Jones have a huge following amongst its audience, thus placing them in the catagory of "high demand". And films that have high demand equate to big dollars in the box office. It's plain and simple economics of Hollywood.
From what I've heard about IJ4, they have spent several years just trying to find the right script. Considering Fords age, I'm sure they have had to find something that would be believable to the audience. And considering Spielbergs track record, I'm willing to take a bet that the movie will turn out just fine.
Tim :)

I don't agree with you. The trilogy is hardly a flawless trilogy (I direct your attention towards the Temple of Doom) and I think that a fourth one is a good, final (?) outing for the greatest conventional hero of all time. Besides, it's not like they are going to have Indy visit a skin club or something and hunt vampires... Steven will stick to Indy's roots, bet on it. We will see amazing special effects and awesome new temples and archeological finds relating to the super-natural, as well as Ford being what he does best: Indiana Jones. All wrapped up in a neat, fun, 2 hour package.

I'm going to weigh in on liking JP3, my only problem was it wasn't long enough, and I didn't like the direction Sam Neil's character went. It seemed so clear he's have a different life after the first movie. In any case, I looked at the movie as purely an action films with incredible dinosaurs, and in that vain, I could enjoy it.
As for Indiana Jones 4, I think Speilberg can pull it off. And I for one would enjoy seeing another of Jones' tales on the big screen. There have certainly been a lot worse ideas taken to the screen in recent years.
