Its seems that hollywood took that turn towards epics once again, trying to travel the world in places of forgotten times and epic war scenes....One thing i cant understand is why did Wolfgang Petersen waste so much time of his life making that really BAD movie? Nooo.....im not talking about the soundtrack..or the whole script......im sure you've heard all of that in countless forums on the net about how bad troy was. Im talking about sticking to the myth! that "thing" was the total humiliation of greek literature and history...i even heard some people say "freaking greeks" after the movie...because they done so much to troy.. (REALITY CHECK! BOTH KINGDOMS IN THE MOVIE WERE GREEK KINGDOMS,SPEAKING THE SAME LANGUAGE...ITS LIKE ONE BIG CITY TAKING OVER ANOTHER)2nd, achilles was gay, and had relations with that boy that the director introduced as his "Cousin??!?!?!?!". Thats not enough...nooo...alexander the great looks like one big Parody, he was gay too! But no...in the film he had to go str8...Angelina joly is there!!!! God....

Well, if you want to take your point of view from history. It's not that Alexander was gay, today you would call it bisexual. Unlike other movies, Alexander doesn't completely ignore the homosexual aspects of his life. Sure, it doesnt have any gay sex scenes in the film, but not as many people would see it if it had one. It just isnt that important when you take 20 years and squish it into about 2 hours.

I see Troy and Alexander mentioned but other than that I can't tell which sentence refers to which movie.

I will however say that Alexander was a documentary with a 100 million dollar budget. It seemed like EVERY scene was drawn out to the max, where was the editor? And who chose the music for the battles? They totally contradicted what was happening. It would start out with typical battle music, but then for no reason at all it would switch to something that totally ruined the mood. If you haven't seen it yet, at least wait until it's available for rent.

I Can accept the editor thoughts, i havent seen the film yet, but the the score question...ill have to answear. The soundtrack was composed by Vangelis Papathanasiou (Blade runner, Music for the NASA space mission to mars "MYTHODEA", conquest for paradise, Chariots of fire...Not to mention that he was a pioneer in Electronic Music,One that followed his leed for example is Hanz zimmer). Now, i suppose you didnt get the actuall meaning of the score. The purpose of a film score (like it or not)is to drive the movie alongside with sound effects. The actuall Link that combines your feelings with the moving picture is Music, when this "link" is established the picture takes over. It's your bridge to "ride" the screen. Thats why a correct soundtrack stands on its own,and thats why a bad soundtrack doesnt stand in the movie it self (hear "TROY")There are examples of glorious scores that actually overshadow their films. But, my point is that with oliver stone on the wheel of this film, and vangeli composing,(with great previews works) maybe you didnt actually conceived What the director wanted from the scene (nothing goes in there without the directors acceptance). If a battle scene features a dynamic startup and while the battle still goes on the music turns into sad or sentimental, its to unplug your from the "heat" of battle and give emphasis to the bad side...deaths, babies crying.... etc etc..

As for My previous post above, i was wrong, oliver stone did an excellent research as alwyas, he potrayed alexander as a Bisexual. (i thing that some 28 greek lawyers are seuing the director)

Los Angeles - Oliver Stone could face legal action from Greek lawyers for portraying the Greek hero Alexander the Great as gay in the new movie Alexander.

The epic blockbuster, which stars Colin Farrell as the legendary warrior, has been slammed in Greece for depicting the character as an active bisexual, who enjoyed sexual relations with younger men.

Lawyers have now warned Stone and movie producers Warner Bros that they will file lawsuits against them if it is not made clear the film is a work of fiction, reports Femalefirst.

Yannis Varnakos, the lawyer leading the campaign, said: "We are not saying that we are against gays. But we are saying that the production company should make it clear that the film is pure fiction and not a true depiction of the life of Alexander.

"There is no mention of his alleged homosexuality in any historical document or archive."

Studio bosses received an extrajudicial note from lawyers demanding audiences be told in the title credits.

However, Warner Bros are yet to respond to the request and have so far not released any official statement regarding the claims.

Stone has already admitted his big screen interpretation of the legendary warrior could offend some movie-goers but refused to admit it is inaccurate.

He said: "We go into his bi-sexuality. It may offend people, but sexuality in those days was a different thing." - Ananova.com

I can understand a shift in music to put emphasis on the downsides of the battlefield. LOTR:TTT did this wonderfully where everything slowed down and the sound effects took a backseat to the soft singing. I'm not putting down the pieces themselves, but I thought some of them were sorely misplaced. When 'thee' Alexander is leading the cavalry for the deathstrike against the Persian army, the music should be fierce. It just felt really melodramatic.

About Alexander: WOW most Homosexually charged movie ever. Its like being visually TEEBAGED for 2 hours and the rest is mindless filler and women talking like bad fake Russians. It’s a movie that’s only reason for existing is to push the gay envelope and man do they push it.:o:@

Can someone who has seen the movie answer this for me? Near the end when Alexander is hit with the arrow, is everything supposed to become an annoying pink color? I saw it with a few friends earlier, and whoever was in the projection booth was doing a terrible job. He was forgetting to switch reels and we would have to wait upwards of 20 seconds at times. Also, several times throughout the movie, the film would become saturated with blue and then the sound would click on and off. So with all of that going on, we couldn't tell if it was supposed to be over saturated with pink in those scenes or not. We all received refunds and a free pass in the end though.

The red/pink hues was deliberate.
