Well, in that market Sony, panasonic And Pioneer are the "top dogs". Sony's DAV-S Series are well known for their performace/price ratio, Pioneer has also some of the most respectable models in the market. Sony's models have a small extra, their dvd-player included on the system is allways a great player, you are also guaranteed the support of sacd playback/decoding and dvd-a. As for RCA (Which is THOMSON in europe), i wouldnt recoment buying a surround sound system from them, they got great CRT tv's and Dvd-players to offer, but people never favour them around here. I would go for a Sony or a Pioneer.
(P.S. Please dont buy ANY system for its Looks, even if appearance is an essential feature for the all-in-one market, its a buyers biggest hole to fall in, Never judge speakers or system by their looks, chances are you are going to get ripped)

Though they put together more "all the components you need for an HT" rather than a true HTiB, I like Onkyo. Their speakers are good quality for the money and the recievers can't be beat. Considering you can drop about 400 bucks for an excellent setup, I can easily recommend them.

I bought an HTiB and I'm happy with what I was able to afford. What's your opinion on the Onkyo HT 760?
Also, which is better, an HD TV or digital projector? I want to watch TV and movies.

A true top-of-the-line surround system? How about seven Wilson Audio Alexandrias, each with its own Audio Research 300.2 amplifier and controlled by something like an Audio Research MP-1 surround preamp. The cost might be prohibitive, though: about a quarter of a million dollars, conservatively speaking.
