Yes, its true, the bestseller is on its way to film, starring Tom Hanks.
For you that you dont know the book, The Vatican fought that book for revealing secrets and details (which are historically accurate in the book by years of research)raising the controversy high enough to make it a Bestseller.
The book i havent read yet, but i was curious enough to read the Prologue and i found it very captivating. I Remember after reading the prologue making a statement to my friend "this is ready to hit the big screen!". Its almost like a screenplay with lots of attention to detail and a mysterious opening which captures the viewers attention.

The main character in the book, Robert Langdon, is described as seeming like Harrison Ford. I thought at that point it might be fun if Ford actually did the part. But Ford's getting older and he's got Indy coming up; besides, I'm sure Hanks will do just fine.

An amazing book, should be a great movie. The only concern I have is that I just can't see Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon. Don't get me wrong, Hanks is a great A list actor. He chooses great roles, and brings life to his characters.....but as I was reading DaVinci Code, I pictured someone more...I don't know, un-Hanks like. I don't know why. Some faces that popped in my head as I was reading: Aaron Eckhart, Val Kilmer (ever see Spartan??), Edward Norton (might be too young), and Angelina Jolie. Now I know Jolie is female, but you put her in any movie, and males AND females will flock to see her. Well, maybe not, but she's hot, so it's ok to cast her as a male.
Anyone else have any thoughts as to who might be a "better" choice than Hanks? Or who agrees that Angelina Jolie would just do fine as Langdon?

I’ve bought the book. I haven’t read it yet fully , but seems to me that Tim Robbins is much better and adequate choice for the role of Robert Langdon.
I don’t know, maybe because I am long time fan of some of his work ( Shawshank, The Player…..) , but I prefer Robbins more than Hanks for this type of role.

I suppose it's a moot point now that Hanks has been confirmed in the role. But if you consider that the character of Robert Langdon is supposed to be a fairly common man, Hanks fills the bill. And if you consider that sometimes an author will put a lot of himself into one of his fictional heroes, Hanks may make a good stand-in for author Dan Brown (you can see Brown's picture through Google's image directory).
