Two great sites for info on the movie are NarniaWeb.com and NarniaFans.com
They should both have links to the behind the scenes featurette. It opens December 9th 2005. It's being produced by Disney and Walden Media and stars Tilda Swinton as the White Witch (absolutely perfect choice) and Brian Cox as the voice of Aslan the Lion. It also stars Jim Broadbent as Professor Digory Kirke, James McAvoy as Mr. Tumnus, and has such voice talents as Rupert Everett (as a fox), Ray Winstone (as Mr. Beaver), and Dawn French (as Mrs. Beaver). And the cast for the children is really quite excellent.

I completely agree with you KingofLostFaces, Tilda Swinton is the best choice for the White Witch! I believe Cate Blanchette could have done a great job as well, but I'm happy with the selection they've made.
I'm assuming they're going to have CGI characters for Aslan, Mr. Tumnus, Mr. Beaver..etc? I really enjoyed the BBC series and thought they did an excellent job, but I don't care to see actors romping around in animal costumes this time around. If I'm not mistaken, IMDb listed some actors as voice actors. I hope all the animal roles are provided by voice talent.
I hope they can capture the magic and imagery that the novels create, and if successful, that they continue to take the other novels to film.

A good amount of the animals will be CG (the beavers, the robin, and Aslan, to name a few), but there will be quite a few suit-characters like the minotaurs and centaurs and most of the mythical creatures. Mr. Tumnus, I believe, will be part CG and part live-action (played by James McAvoy).
Supposedly, they are staying very true to the book with the only changes being a few expansions (the bombing of London and the Battle of Beruna, which are both just hinted at). If LWW is successful, they plan to make more films, perhaps all seven.

As long as WETA DIGITAL WORKSHOP is at work in this film, it will turn out to be a great film. They have been the new guys in town making magic in films. They are beginning to work on several films down in Wellington. ;)

Yeah, I'm excited about WETA being involved, but I just hope Narnia has a distinct feel and isn't just a LotR clone. The Chronicles of Narnia are very different from The Lord of the Rings and should be treated accordingly.
BTW, no offense to LotR. They're good movies and books.

I cant wait. This was the series that introduced me to sci-fi/fantasy in the first place. I think this is to 8-13 year olds what LotR is to teens and adults. The plus is that not only is it a great series but its got alot of good morals in it too. Im defenately lookin foreward to this one.
