Ironically, Die Another Day may actually get a nomination for Best Song even though many people hated the music. This can be attributed to the fact that not many memorable original songs were written for 2002's movies, and Madonna is a safer choice for the Academy than Eminem.

The Academy (just like the Grammy Awards) are all about safe choices, aren't they? [:(]

Speaking of songs in Bond movies, the only Bond song ever nominated for an Oscar was Paul McCartney's Live and Let Die.
There have been other great songs from Bond. My favorites include:
Carly Simon - Nobody Does it Better
Sheena Easton - For Your Eyes Only
Rita Coolidge - All Time High
Duran Duran - A View To A Kill
A-Ha - Living Daylights
Tina Turner - Goldeneye (written by Bono & The Edge from U2)

DIE ANOTHER DAY may get an Oscar nomination for Best Song? I could have gone a lifetime without hearing that news.
MINORITY REPORT brainless and stupid? Of course, maybe Per is joking. Still, the movie is foremost a sci-fi thriller, but I loved the ideas in it, too, and I don't think of that as odd. I think of ME as odd, true, but not the movie.

Well , I think that posters5 predictions are somehow very well “ ballanced” in accordance to the various nominations. At the Oscars, very often it is not the case .
It seems to me that ( though there is still time left for decision and still has few pictures still unseen) this is going to be one of “those” years when one picture is going to “sweap away” the awards. So, we are going to wait until April and see, but something is telling me that this is going to be “Road to Perdition”’s year, and another award for Tom Hanks.

And not to forget the theme songs from GOLDFINGER and FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE.
Actually, I've liked all the Bond songs except this latest. When this one started, my wife and I turned to each other with jaws dropped and then simultaneously whispered how awful it was.

Well, Alex, I happen to think that it is a year with many great films, so the Academy might split votes enough so that everyone gets a little something like the past 2 years. However, last year was simply a year of weak movies, and the year before had a strong showing from a movie that I think is very overrated--Traffic. Therefore, I am glad that this year, the competition seems to be among great--not just good--movies.
As for Best Song, I hope for John and Henning and all Scandanavia that LOTR 2 takes the big prize. Sound good? [:)]

The last one by Sheryl Crow was also awful. Yeah the Shirley Bassey tunes are pretty good.

Well, Per, Tolkien based many things in his writings on old Norse mythology--which explains why the reception in the Scandanavian countries has been so positive. Of course, there are always exceptions to any rule, so...

Well mayby I overstated it a bit. Minority Report is an OK movie, but I am just suprissed that people think it is THAT good and meaningfull. Also I did not realise that Henning & Co. liked it so much. Oh and btw. LOTR1 is far from my favorite movie [:)]
I liked it, but it is NOT on my top 5, or even top ten list. I know a lot of people who feel the same way, and actually my brothers wife left the theater during the halfway-break, because she thought it to be boring. Can you belive that ?

Actually I think just as many in the US liked the film just as much (I might be wrong here, but only 0.1 difference in votes of US and non-US on IMDB). Anyway a great film, but far from the best ever.
