Well the Episode III trailer just aired on Fox tonight and I thought it would be cool to see what everyone thought of it. I for one was absolutely blown away by the trailer. I was already looking foward to the film but my excitement level has risen even higher after the trailer. Some of my favorite parts were...

...*Spoilers* for those who dont want to know or havent seen it...

...getting to see Palpatine and Anakin talking about the power of the dark side. I think the most important relationship that this movie has got to get right is the one between Palpatine and Anakin and the trailer has given me the belief that Lucas got it right. I also loved seeing the look on Anakins face as he is walking with clones behind him and the hood over his face. Its a look of pure evil. I believe that its going to be incredibly sad to see Anakin fall to the power and the dark side. I liked a lot more stuff in the trailer too but Ill leave at that for now. How many days is it til May 19th?

Thought the pixelmagic trailer was more entertaining as it showed a decent amount of "The Duel" between ani and obi :D

One great film can't save an already 2 part mediocre trilogy. The worst of the OT is much better than I or II.

If anything, I'm hoping for this final episode to bond the two trilogies together nicely. I heard after you see Ani vs Obi, you look at the Obi vs Darth fight in a whole new light.

While I'm really excited about the third film, I think I side a little with Chin here. I'm not sure it's going to be "the dog's bollocks" just yet. Yes, it does "look" cool, and there are many interesting scenes that pose questions, I don't think I'd go as far as to say it will be better than ESB. That's saying a lot. Granted, it's subjective. All we can do is wait and see.

I don't think it's possible to think anything but good thoughts about the (hopefully) last Star Wars installment. But in my opinion the trailer was weak and looked very Star Trek environmentally wise. The best part of the original films was the use of familiar environments in futuristic situations, the new trilogy has just been all space and CGI and I really can't stand it. But still, I LOVE Star Wars. How's that for contradiction?

I think that the emporer is going to steal the show especially the snene where him and yoda are fighting. I think this is the first time anakin will be cool. Cant wait for MAY i will be there for the midnight showing

This will end up the best of the new trilogy, maybe better than the old? I thought it was totally awesome. The fight between Yoda and Palpatine in the Senate W/ Palpatine whaling Representative platforms rocked! But there's no way I could pick a favorite part. Come on May 19th!!!!

This movie is going to be the coolest, it may even top TESB as the best of the saga.

PerZK,

Maybe I'm missing something here. The link you provided-- - EXTERNAL LINK - us to a Web site where they say the trailer is a fake. I know I'm dense, so what's up?

The whole trailer was really amazing, but the part that really got me was Ewan's delivery of the "You were the Chosen One!" line. Simply astounding.

Other highlights were Sam Jackson confronting Palpatine. Should be an awesome scene. Yoda/Palps fight in the Senate looked really good. And 3P0's line helped to cement the tone for most of the characters in the movie.
Anakin's turn to the dark side looks to be very well done from the little nuances he plays in the Palpatine scenes all the way to the march on the Jedi Temple.

May 19th can't come soon enough, and I can't wait to see the trailer on the big screen today.

I noticed it, it's 20 years too early if you know the Star Wars chronology, but still cool. I can't wait to see the two trilogy's tied together by III.

Did anyone notice towards the end of the trailer, they showed Princess Leia's "diplomatic mission" ship from "A New Hope"? You know... the one that Darth forces his way onto in the beginning of the movie. Yeah, that one. ;)

What scares me is there are signs of the same stilted dialogue and delivery :(

Poor characterization and poorer dialogue (of the eye-rolling calibre) are the main reasons for my hating Parts I and II.

I'm with Chin, I'll believe it when I see it.

Granted, all the previous two episodes were accepted with the same enthusiasm from fans and audience members in the same fashion of excitement as we are seeing with the upcoming episode; however, we ended up getting mediocre plots from both previous films. They always had great visuals, but if anything that has been proved, visuals alone can not make a classic film. I can only hope this will be the best of the three new episodes, but with Hayden as the films anchor character, it makes it hard to believe that is possible.

I believe "the circle is now complete" is said by Darth during the saber fight between him and Obiwan in ANH.

its "the saga is now complete", unless you are talking about "tHE Ring Two".

OMG! That was the coolest Star Wars I've ever seen. The Circle Is Now Complete.
I cannot wait to see this in 2 more months. The suspense is killing me. Favorite quotes in the trailer: "Are you threatening me, Master Jedi?" and "Is it possible to learn this power?" This is going to blow all other movies of 2005 away. :D

well, Probably the guy is thousands of years old like yoda, he must be a fallen jedi himself with a backround story that we will hear about in this film (and maybe another prequel will be possible...smt like star wars: birth of the dark side). He was allways that old but he was disguised maybe (Dont forget...this is the emperor...lord of deception and all...aka satan)so...he will come forth in his reptile-like appearance.
2nd Scenario is that Joda and The bad emperor have smt common in their secret backround, maybe they are related in some way, sources of good and evil)
My estimate is that they both (yoda and sidius) started their teaching methods in the same timeline.

All plot, dialogue, and acting woes aside, I'd like to know how "Palpatine" goes from looking like his same old self, to looking like the decrepit ancient looking Emporer in the same film. It happened in the trailer. How does this happen so quickly in the Star Wars timeline? Does anyone have the skinny on that? If not, let's hope "GL" explains this in the film.

YCH: I know, but this is star wars, you are just there to see WHEN it happens not HOW it will happen. As for character developement i dont think is much left, anakin was darth-ready from ep2, besides, lucas is lifting all the weight by his own, FX, Script, direction, which i think is a mistake, all im saying is that you wont witness smt new to the industry like the previous star wars series, you are just there for its plot...which is 75% known through spoilers and fan-oriented material and comic books. So unless Ep3 Has an ace hidding in its sleeve during the 2 hours screening, its only going to be a 2hour spectacle with great CGI images. And i dont blame it...if Melies's "trip to the moon" was the "father" of trick photography and fx, star wars is defenetely the "gifted son"...but just that...nothing more nothing less.

S_Coaster, I feel that a good movie can rise about its plot. We already know the destinations, true, but that shouldn't stop it from having a great journey between. Just because the public know some plotpoints of a movie doesn't mean the scriptwriter/director should allow the character development or dialogue to suffer.

Well, he is relying 98% on visuals and story and 2% on dialog, dont expect much, this one is CG Heavier than any other star wars movies. In the trailer you can hear an explosion sound found in every new star wars episode (I-III) And john's new theme is not audible on this trailer (like "across the stars" in attack of the clones, which is a copy of leias theme which is a copy of marion's theme from Indiana Jones 1,both John's work)
As For the movie itself...we know exactly what is gonna happen, we even know the location where the big downFall of anakin will occur (volcanic scenery can be seen in the trailer) we can see that the emperor will reveal himself and fight (i hope not as ridiculus as joda in Ep2). What exactly are the answears you are waitting? amidala will give birth to luke and leia, anakin will become darth, the jedis will become illegal, and obi-wan will be exiled to that shithole for luke to find later. So, i may pay the cash to go to its theatrical release only for the spectacle, nothing more. Cause unlike most of mindless entertainment fans, i dont expect anything higher than explosions, lightsabers, furry buddies and dark tones, so if you are waitting this one to be a script genius film, forget about it
