Alright guys, don't know if anybody else has been following these production diary's at all. I check in once a month or so and just now I checked in to find a very scary entry to the making of King Kong. It's the last week of shooting and Peter Jackson has actually become so exhausted that he is literally asleep in the director's chair while Usual Suspects and X-Men director Bryan Singer takes over for him! Come on Pete, you're getting 20 million dollars buddy!

He is turning into a political force in new Zealand...he brought so many cash into that country....during LOTR Production, the goverment actually had to create a ministry for it to handle econics and other issues for the cast&crew.
Generally the guy is smt like a crossover from spielberg & lucas.

They're commissioning a new coin with his face on it. Ridiculous. Completely ridiculous.

The vid looks fake anyway...peter jackson is a bit bigger than the guy. But again...the sets look real :)
A Coin with his face? Well, its no wonder! The guy re-inforced their economy by more than 25%. Its a great honor for him. But i think they are iverreacting a little.
What happens after king kong? he is declared a national hero?
Good ol' Milos Forman left Czechoslovakia after the soviets invaded and went to the us. he only came back to film amadeus...during the iron curtain ,in a piss-poor country....he was considered a traitor for leaving his country and going to the other side...I Didnt saw any coins with his face on :) Even the academy of film in prague was accusing him for leaving right up until the soviet thing ended...now they are bragging that milos forman finished their school (top school....nontheless) Ex-Soviet block academies were there to create propagandists...and good ones...preety much there way of teaching hasnt evolved much...but their art schools (music/performing arts/filmaking/etc etc) are great!
Now that i've mentioned milos.... he is currently working on a project called "Amarillo Slim". its 6 years since he got behind the camera (man on the moon).
Even though he is 73 years old, and critics say that he "lost it" i still think he is one of the best in that crapped-up studio system.

I couldn't get the video, but he lost a bunch of weight so it's probably him.

Even if it was true, remember that there were at least six different crews (with six directors) working on Lord of the Rings at the same time and it still "managed to get a good review here and there".;)
also:
Director PETER JACKSON is finding it more difficult than he anticipated on the set of KING KONG - because he thought it would be easier to make than his LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy.
The film-maker has cast JACK BLACK, NAOMI WATTS, ADRIEN BRODY and Rings star ANDY SERKIS in the second re-working of the 1933 film classic about a giant ape.
And, after 106 days shooting the film in New Zealand with more to come, Jackson is already exhausted.
He says, "I'm in survival mode.
"We had some perceptions that this would be easier than The Lord Of The Rings. It's only easier in the sense there's one film instead of three but it's a tough film to make."

Alright, I don't know whether to be excited or not, but King Kong is officially going to start shooting Lord of the Rings style back-to-back-to-back between now and Christmas.
King Kong
December 2005
Son of Kong
June 2006
Into The Wolf's Lair
December 2006
Looks like Jackson is making his version of Indiana Jones, post Star Wars, eh? I really loved the Lord of the Rings, and I think a few other people did too...I mean...ya know...a couple people or so. I can't wait to see Kong this Christmas, it couldn't possibly top LOTR but as far as grandeur goes you can't beat Jackson these days.

Yes, but dont forget, Jackson had a far more better material with lord of the rings to work with, books so graphic and detailed in describing battles and other scenes that leave really few to the imagination. Even though both titles bare the name of the same director, there should be NO comparison whatsoever, you really cant compare king kong with Lord Of the Rings.
My estimate is that the LOTR trilogy will remain jacksons greatest hit.
My second note is that a movie like King Kong is a bid overrated, its an ape attacking new york with your all-time-gives-credit girl-in-distress scenes.
What made it a cultural hit in the u.s. is maybe the premature use of animatics which introduced artificial characters with leading roles for the first time.
To be honest, im not the kind of person that will pay to see a movie like that in the theater, it goes str8 into the "to-be rent" list.
By the end of this guys Filmography....new zealand will be the richest country in the world with a "peter jackson" museum, and a bill with his face on, and a diet which will be named "the lord of the kg's - A diet by the master of illusion, P.J."

I just watched the video, and I can't believe some of you didn't know it was a spoof! It is so blatantly obvious I can't even begin to describe the amount of give-aways. First off do you think Singer is dumb enough to think that King Kong flies? And when Peter says "I'm gonna finish like a man" and the next scene you got Darabont in there finishing it for him... utterly ridiculous that you bought it as truthful.
And then all the jabs you made at him cause ya thought he was lazy... my my my...
How could anyone fall for this!? I love this video though, and it's terribly funny, and the star power in it rivals most films today, that's what makes it even funnier!
