Cover Art Scratch

I didnt know where to post this, but it seemed alright here. well, on alot of cover art here i notice a scracth on the art. it cant be the same scrath on all these boxes, so i assume its the scanner. the scratch looks like this:

thats the best i can do. im no ascii artist. ignor those decimals at the front, the pic wouldnt work without them

ive noticed this alot, perhaps it is just one reviewers scanner. it doesnt bother me i just need the inside scoop so i can sleep at night...

We get our cover art from various places such as press sites and retail. So why the fault on the cover art is hard to say.

I wonder, could it be tape on the DVD?

As Henning says, sometimes the cover art is automatically downloaded from various sources. The lines you're noticing are the fault of the original scans.

Personally, for the cover art of all of the titles I've reviewed for at least the past few years, I've added it myself, downloaded from the studios' official press sites. If the art work doesn't look good, I doctor it further myself.

Anyway, we've got a lot of graphics stored here at the site for a heck of a lot of discs, and all of it can't be perfect. Still, we try.
