I haven't read the books yet, but I just saw the movie, and I have to say it was hillarious! Though, if you don't like British humor at all, you may not get much out of this movie. I loved the humor. It's such a far cry from most movies released in the U.S., and was a refreshing change of pace. A friend of mine (whom is a diehard fan of the books) said he didn't like it because so much was left out from the books. Though, what can you expect from a storyline of many books, condenced to just under a 2 hour movie? I was laughing through the whole film! In my opinion, it's definitely worth the admission of a matinee.

The books are not really interrelated, and the first not that long, but concessions do have to be made. I'd recommend you read the first couple books, they're quite delicious.

I just hope they replaced "Vogon poetry" with clips of John Ashcroft singing. Talk about something to make your intestines leap out and choke you to death!

Actually, they did the Vogan poetry scene very well. It was incredibly funny. I'll definitely check out the first couple of books. Though, I've heard from a couple of people, there's no real point to reading the rest.

I'm not sure why this film is getting such low ratings. I loved it. Maybe the 'nay sayers' are fans of the books.

All four books in the trilogy are pretty funny. Long Dark Tea Time is a worthwhile read too. I definitely miss Mr. Adams.

I think the idea of four books in a trilogy is pretty funny.

Thought I would like this movie but it sucked in my opinion. Men In Black wins hands down.

I thought the movie was horrible. Not to take away from the enjoyment you received form it, but I found when it was finished it was like getting over pneumonia! :)
