Okay, the "Missing DVDs" threads appear independent of the other threads now. Is this an acceptable solution to you guys, or do you still want "Missing DVDs" requests to be hidden?

I agree. I think the "missing dvd" posts have been quite annoying. They're a good idea for making sure the database is up to date, but it really hampers the forum. I hope Henning makes the change so that they don't show up there anymore. Don't get me wrong though, I still love this site!

Yeah, it would be better if people used the "Reader Feedback" function rather than the Forum to submit missing DVDs.

We hope that the EIC will make this change soon to keep great visitors like you on board. :)

Dear John and the DVD Town Community,

Just thought I would put my two cents in - this site has so much more to offer. In the beginning, I would come out here quite a bit, particularly to load my collection onto the database. That feature really caught my eye first. I then would go out to the forum and search through the topics for discussions that interest me. The reviews are an overlooked, and great feature on this site, and one that I have been using more and more. The market is saturated with a lot of different films being released, both old and new, and before I go and invest my money, I want a reasonable idea of what looks good.

During the summer, I started to get turned off by the forum. There seemed to be a little too much bickering going on there. I also got turned off by comments that were made when i posted some missing DVD mail. Unless the input selection changes, you can expect to see a lot of requests for missing DVD's. I rely less on the "My collection" feature now than I did originally, but it still is an important aspect to the site. The announcement feature is also extremely, extremely, important. I rely on this quite a bit. I love the DVD Journal for this feature, but rely equally on this feature on DVD town.

Thanks for the wonderful site!!! I appreciate the work you guys do on this site and all the attention to detail that is involved with all of the features.

Well, I usually check the boards to see if any topics interest me. In the last few months, though, it seems 80% of the new topics ore requesting DVD titles to be added to the database. Now that I see that a new section has been added for those, expect to see a whole lot more of me here.

Hide them ALL!
Missing DVD's are an internal affair of the company. It really shows a weakness of the database/stuff system. By entering the forum and witnessing a special forum for missing dvd's kills the integrity of the stuff, which ultimately results in an unprofessional image of a great site!
At least make it quick, by either enabling the "Database Feeder" "Report Missing DVD's"
feature . At Least give readers a motive to feed the database even faster,How? Competition. "The Hunt for the Missing DVD" The More you add, the more chances you have winning. End of the week, the person with the most reported missing fed to the database wins (what else) 1-2 dvd's (I really recomment "the Missing")j/k. The prizes must be Attractive products (Schindler's List, Amadeus, Spidey-spidey2 Etc...) Or even better show a list of 3-5 dvds that the winner can select one (even better..... choice).Let the Hunt Begin!!!!

I dont think that someone should win DVDs for reporting missing ones, but like you said, they should be reported directly with the staff, not on the public forums.

Eddie,

Looks like a pretty good solution to me. If I had seen this when I initially started to use the site, I would have felt pretty comfortable with submitting my requests. Nice solution!! And it doesn't get in the way of forum traffic.
