Hi, I was curious if there was a way to indicate on the site whether there is an insert included in the dvd or not. It would be easier to just check on the site rather than comment and hope someone else bought it and can compare. I am not sure about how to indicate it. Perhaps a section on a review or something. It would be a useful guide because some dvds come without them, while others of the same have them. Sincerely, Robert.

It's a good idea, but....
Few, if any, of the movie studios indicate on their press sites whether a disc includes a chapter insert or not; and few, if any, discs indicate such information on the outside of the keep case. Therefore, we at the site have little way of knowing in advance of receiving a disc for review if it has an insert or not.
Like the other reviewers, I try to remember to indicate in my reviews about inserts, but sometimes I just forget. It used to be that most studios included inserts, so it went without saying. Now, only a few studios include an insert. Warner Bros., for example, the biggest studio with the most number of monthly releases, started using keep cases a year or so ago, rather than the old snapper case. But they have not been including a chapter insert in most of their new cases, information they used to print on the inside of the snapper cover. Oh, well....

It annoys me how most studios no longer include inserts in the titles, and I find it real annoying when a title that was released back when they were including inserts and originally had an insert, they take out the insert on new copies sold (it's happened to me a few times). Also, even though the studios say that it's too expensive to print inserts when people can get the same on the menus on the DVD, they can still afford to print advertising inserts (I estimate that 90% of the titles that don't have a regular insert do have advertisments). And am I the only who noticed that this all started with Paramount and now Paramount includes their titles in super- protective keepcases (with the little snap locks on the sides), which must be costing just as much as regular keepcases with inserts would cost. Somebody at the studios should grow a brain cell and relize that inserts should be a must with all DVDs.

DVD Master,
I agree with you. Companies make a killing off of DVD sales and yet they can't be consistent in releasing DVDs with inserts. It really pisses me off when I get a DVD with an advertisement and no chapter insert. That's just plain sad. I think I even got a DVD with 2 advertisements and no chapter insert. As you mentioned, older versions of a DVD will have a chapter insert but sometimes the new editions won't. This seems to be more and more of a trend as time goes by. Eventually you may only be able to get an insert on the super duper special editions that you'll have to fork over 30 or 40 bucks for. It's amazing how they will release a bare bones DVD with a chapter insert but won't give you an insert with a 2-disc or 3-disc edition. Oh well. Here's to hoping the future brings more inserts.
