I really like how in some DVD reviews, the packaging is described. Being a DVD lover, this information is important to me. But, I've only noticed that former DVD reviewer, Yunda Eddie Feng, current reviewer John J. Puccio and Hock Guan Teh are the only ones who provide such info and I thank them for that but can't all DVD Town reviewers do the same? I will understand if the reason is that most of them probably don't have time.
thanks

Keep in mind that sometimes they don't get the final package either, so it would be hard to speculate as to what you're gonna get. But I too love how they do that.

I usually try to describe it only when it is relevant - e.g. with the very cool packaging of Criterion's "Videodrome." In most cases, there just isn't a lot to say - it comes in a case and, uh, you can open and close it. :)

That may be true of some reviewers, but the studios I handle only send out finished packages these days, and it's all I will review anymore, in any event. But as Chris points out, there is not a lot to say about the packaging in most cases. If the disc case comes in a slipcover, I try to mention it, or if the cover is especially annoying to me (like those metallic-foil jobs that show your fingerprints all over the place). I'm not as concerned as many of our readers about what the cover art actually looks like, though, so I usually don't mention it. Oh, and I try to point out if there's a chapter insert or not. Apparently (according to the mail I get), a lot of our readers are irritated that so many studios don't use inserts anymore.

I always tried to detail the packaging as well. I feel 'miffed' at studios for becoming very cheap on the packaging front. Inserts are no longer part of the overall product and I despise those DVD cases with the latches.
Many screeners reviewers recieve are 'promotional' in nature. I've even gotten movies that came in a white envelope and an unmarked disc. I had to guess which side contained the movie. "Wing Commander" comes to mind. Imagine my surprise when it was that fecal pile.
