Here's a first. Many of DVD Town's reviews are linked to virtually hundreds of other Web sites, but they are almost always attributed to the author and/or to DVD Town. But here's a guy who just plagiarized my review of "The Shining" and posted it at two different Web site forums under two different names:

- EXTERNAL LINK -

I found out about it because I got two e-mails today from people who frequent these sites and ours and noticed my review had been copied almost word for word. Nice to know there are people out there who are so observant and so thoughtful.

I contacted the fellow responsible and I contacted the editors or both sites to get the guy to attribute the review to me or to remove it. I also suggested that if such plagiarism occurred at the DVD Town forums, we would automatically ban the perpetrator.

The Editor of DVD Talk has already contacted me saying he banned the culprit from his site. I'm waiting on Audioholics; they'll probably do likewise.

John,

Hey, at least someone liked your reviews enough to steal them. ;)

At any rate, it's probably worth investigating if the same guy ripped off your other reviews.

Wow! the review from audioholics was posted 2 days ago. Not only was it plagiarized, it was late as well!
