Dvd Collections should count for as many dvds that are in the collection... not as 1

If by "as many dvds" you mean "discs", then no they shouldn't. 1 movie = 1 listing. 1 TV show season = 1 listing.

Yes, but, example: The Star Wars Trilogy (Widescreen) should count as 3 movies not 1. Am I wrong about this? Not complaining, just a thought. Love the site. David:)

we'd end up splitting hairs over too many things, though. for example, the "ben-hur" four-disc collector's edition has two movies. "o", "chinese box", and "zatoichi" are two-disc sets with two movies each. but we've also seen three- and four-disc sets for just one movie alone. then we have season sets that have between 6 and 8 discs. they take up a lot of shelf space, so do they count as at least two titles? hard to say.

I think the thing to keep in mind is that the website is designed to keep track of your DVD collection, not the number of movies or discs you own. They are different things. It's DVD Town, not Movie Town. While I agree that the Star Wars Trilogy is comprised of 3 seperate movies, the collection itself is one box-set, one purchase, one item. As far as a DVD site is concerned, that is one thing; it just happens to contain 4 discs, 3 movies, 1 bonus disc, and a whole slew of special features.

Think of the term DVD as more than simply a 'disc' or a 'movie'. A DVD is a single item that may or may not contain mulitple discs or movies. The Star Wars Trilogy is one DVD. So is Indiana Jones and Back to the Future. The Alien trilogy, on the other hand, is available in multiple DVD formats. Alien is one DVD, Aliens is one DVD, the Alien Quadrilogy is one DVD. And because it's available that way, you'll find it listed that way on DVD Town. Star Wars is only available as a boxed set, so it's only listed that way here.

On another note, I think I am way too verbose sometimes...

dmuncy that is what i mean when i posted this say the star wars trilogy should count as 3 movies, i don't count the bonus discs as extra dvds, if its a movie i count it. like say the ,Matrix Collection, i believe (can't be sure without looking at it) its actually only 4 movies, matrix 1,2,3, and animatrix, so i would count that as 4. star wars has 4 discs, but i would count it as 3. but i do understand it would get complicated. but atleast couldn't it show like in the title say "Matrix Ultimate Collection (10 discs)" or something like that? i don't know:)

just a suggestion. love the site:D
