Will gladiator survive the added footage?
Many people found the original theatrical release sometimes slow, and with overblown dialog, What can Mr. Ridley Scott add to enhance an allready milked cow?
I Recently read that Milos Forman casted Natalie Portman for his next project "Goya's Ghosts" about the famous painter. Why?

Re: "Gladiator"--prolly not. I like the movie a lot, but I was really tired of those random shots of the sky.

It's tough to say about the added footage. Sometimes it makes a better movie, like in the case of "Dawn Of The Dead." Most of time it sucks. We'll see.

Francisco Goya is one of my favorite artists. He painted for the Spanish Royal Family in the late 18th century. He was very interesting and became somewhat insane because of deafness in his later life, just look at his work during that time and it'll explain for itself. I think it could probably turn out to be a really good movie, especially with Milos Forman as the director.

Ridley Scott recently did the Alien "Director's Cut", an expanded version of a classic film. But, in the booklet with the set, he states that the theatrical version is still his preferred version. (While I'm on the subject of ALien, why the HELL hasn't there been an extended, more violent version of AVP? That movie could have been great with more gore and character development...) Is this simply a new version that includes all deleted scenes or did Scott prefer or supervise this edition? I already own the 2-disc signature edition of this and I'm wondering if this extended edition is worth it. I will admit that Gladiator had some of the best deleted scenes I'd ever seen, but are the new scenes and added features worth the $... I guess time will tell.
